The Pomeranian is one of the most popular "toy" or miniature dogs in the world. Due to their sweet expression and plush appearance, many decide to adopt them to enjoy a loyal, caring and intelligent dog. However, very few know that their character can also stand out for being strong, active and curious. So, they also need plenty exercise and special care.

  • I’ve had one for 13 and a half years now, he’s the sweetest. Has never bitten anyone, always spreading a lot of love. Belly rubs is his favorite
  • You forgot to mention that once you have owned a pom you will never want another breed. They are just THAT lovely!

I went to a pet store to meet my wife who said there were cute puppies available, I said okay, "but I don't want one of those silly fluffy dogs with skinny legs that I've seen in movies!" Well, when I turned up sure enough, there were the poms. I lent over to have a look at them and one little guy met my gaze and wanted to be picked up, so being the softy I am I obliged. It was an instant bond, he was so alert and looking at everything, so happy and just beamed awesomeness! I had to have him. I named him Cassius, but called him Champ. I had a few dogs before Champ, but he ran rings around every one of them, just amazing. He would jog with me, ride in the car, go to the beach, ride with me on my kayak, get baths weekly and looooved getting blow dried and brushed. So bright and playful, yet sitting beside someone on the lounge watching TV was his favorite time. He was born in 2000 and passed in 2018, I miss him so much I almost cry every time I think of him. I buried him under our 70 year old Norfolk pine tree on the family property and planted a lavender plant in a large pot above him. I'm not sure if I am ready for another dog yet, but when I am it will definitely be another pommy. Best dog ever

I have a beautiful female pom, she's mostly black with a white streak on her chest. She's now 18 years old but still wants to play every bit as much as she always has. I adopted her when she was 7 years old, from the animal shelter. One thing I've noticed is that she is very faithful to me, she won't just run off with anybody....well, unless they have food for her! She's just a little bundle of incredible sweetness. :)

Mine just turned 19! He is old and fragile now so he gets lots of extra love and tender care. He’s adorable, and the best personality ever!! I love him so much!
  • The loyalty of the Pomeranian to the owner was displayed when my father was sick and dying and our dog seemed to take his condition the hardiest. While we were hoping our father would pull through the dog was in distress realizing the end was near. Earlier today my wife showed me a video of a dog crying in happiness when the owner came home and it brought memories of my father and his dog which brought me to this site. Man's best friend for sure.

I adopted my pom at the shelter as an adult. He is the fluffiest, sweetest, snuggliest, cutest thing. Absolutely amazing with kids- as he lets them do just about anything to him happily- not an ounce of aggression. He's just happy to have the attention. The biggest cuddle bug you could ever imagine. Absolutely amazing breed- so thankful to have found him.

I have a pom and she instinctively knows how to herd. I have a few hens and when they get into the back yard my pom helps to herd them back in. She works just like a good sheep dog- she watches me and goes for the hen I point at and runs it for the gate. The only problem is she is so small and some of the hens turn on her and then she has to run and hide by my leg. But otherwise she is a great little herding dog.

I had a pom and I still miss him. He was so smart, kind and gentle. Once when I had pneumonia he brought me his chew bone and put it on the bed beside me as a gift.He then layed down and had such a soulful expression. When I awoke an was feeling better he could tell and was jumping all about me. The breed is so cheerful and make good alarms for strangers at the door.

I got one 2 days ago. He is the cutest thing I have ever seen. To cute, amazing personality
  • I take my 10 yr old Pom "Heidi" to the local Seniors home where we do Volunteer Pet Therapy. They all know her name and look forward to seeing her because she seems to know exactly how to make each person happy. She especially loves to ride on a seniors knee in a wheel chair when I take them out for walks. She loves not having to walk and just watch the world go by. She wants to go everyday and is disappointed when we don't even though we go 3 times a week.

I have a Pomeranian Chihuahua. A Pom-Chi. He actually looks like a red fox. His coat is the perfect length, he is the perfect size and, he's very protective of the house. He is as devoted to me as I am to myself. He's also my first very small dog and I hope to have him forever. :-)
