Eddie Vedder is one of the best voices of all time. All those singers from the Grunge era had powerful, emotional voices!

That line "I know that you'll live a beautiful life, I know that you'll be a star in somebody else's sky - but why not mine?" is soul crushing. Right in the feels, man...
  • Music in the 90s can't be replaced. It was an incredible time. Glad I lived through it.
  • "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star. In somebody else's sky. But Why, Why, Why....... Can't it be, Oh can't it be mine" Probably the most heartbreaking lyrics ever written. Truly came from the soul.

The irony of this song is they didn't want this song to go commercial because it was so personal. It's about love lost and you can feel the pain and suffering that life and love brings. The poetry is incredible and his voice is amazing. One of my fav all time pearl jam songs
  • “Why can’t it be mine?!” That line hits me in the throat every single time!
  • Eddy and his sexy self here. The emotion this beautiful man can emote is just captivating to the eyes & ears. One of his best performances here.

I remember standing in my parents basement, face staring at the tv, mesmerized by this when it first aired. Decades later, I'm still mesmerized.

Their album “Ten” is said to be one best rock albums of all time. One of the few albums you can listen to every song and say every one is a quality song.

This is one of the most beautiful performances of any song in human history.
  • @passingFable
This is the best performance of this song ever. And next to being one of the best rock singers he is also a one of the best poets of his generation.

Hard to describe how this song effected all the young men at the time. We suddenly became emotionally literate because the songs made it okay to express these feelings. It was a special time. A lot of people's cliques dissolved when these bands came out with music like this.

Eddie got so many of us through the 90s. The story behind the song is also beautiful

I'm SO thankful we still have Eddie Vedder..❤!!! The work (generally collaborations) is still as beautiful and important as this song in this setting.

This song is a reason in itself to be proud of being part of GenX.

I graduated in 91. I grew up with some of the best music. In my opinion of course 😌
  • @buddhagem
So great to see a younger generation fall in love with this incredible music.

“Now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was everything”….You’ll never hear a voice like Eddie’s. Grunge started to gain major traction when I was in high school. I love every bit of it. His performance on unplugged is so beautifully raw. Love it!
