The moment you love your Subaru Outback most may be the moment your loved ones walk away from it after a crash. This commercial tells the story of an emotional reunion of a distraught mother with her young family after the family emerges unharmed from their severely wrecked Subaru Outback. It is a comforting reminder that Subaru has earned more IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards than any other brand

My wife was in her 21 Outback XT Touring, which we loved, and was rear ended by 2 vehicles when she stopped for a school bus. She wasn’t hurt at all. Lady in Mazda 2 was transported, all 3 vehicles were totaled by insurance. Our electric rear hatch still worked fine! Damage to the outback looked minor, but was actually over $15k worth!

Walking away can take different meanings. Intro Subaru logo cuts to a scene of man and pregnant wife on the side of the road with their emergency flashers on. The sun setting over the desert brush, a full moon is high in the dimly lit sky and stars are starting to show. A green sign sits ahead to the right of the 24 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness edition. The big capital reflective white lettering reads: San Miguel 20 miles. The man checks his phone. He still has no reception. He returns to his car the dashboard is all lit up with errors. He sighs deeply with his face in his open hands. He rubs his head talking to himself he says: We have no other choice. The man kisses his wife whispering “I’ll return in the morning. Lock the doors.” He begins his lonely but realistic and transparent walk away from his moderately new car. Cut to the man walking wearily in the dark under a moon lit starry filled sky. The gravel crackling beneath his feet with each step. He stares up at the starry sky and sighs. The screen switches to his point of view. Translucent letters begin to appear against the backdrop of the starry sky. The starry sky begins to fade and the letters turn white against the black screen Transparency it reads. Another line fades in and out slowly. It reads: What REALLY makes a Subaru a Subaru. Cut to statistics. Revenue earned from sales. Revenue earned from repairs. Total number of CVTs replaced under warranty every year. Total number of CVTs replaced outside of warranty every year. Average cost to consumer outside of warranty. Detailed Breakdown of how we sca… ehm “pay” our educated degreed certified contract technicians. Breakdown of how we pay our high school educated service sales employees. Cut to a Now hiring technicians screen. Next line below: “Degree and certification required.” Microscopic conditions below reads: Technicians must purchase their own tools. Text number to inquire. End Transparency Commercial.
