That Krieger wasn't begging for death because of the flames. He had a moment of lucidity and he didn't want whatever had happened to him to continue.

I felt so damn bad for that one Kreiger. The absolute WORST thing you can call someone from Kreig is a "traitor", and the poor guy died begging TRYING to explain to an ANGEL of his god that he wasn't a traitor but rather being mind controlled. Lord, it's heartbreaking.
  • @iloveplayingpr
Poor Krieger, being called a Traitor by one of the Angels is gut wrenching for them.
  • The fact that he compliments the guardsmen while also reassuring him that he wasn't in need of rescue for then telling him to find safety first is such a Salamander thing to do. Few close to no other chapter can reach such a level of genuine kindness like that.
  • @ENZOMAN12
Broke my heart when he called that krieg, of all people, traitor. I hope he learns they weren’t in control
  • @vxm1917
I love that he hesitated for a moment before killing the Kriegsmen. As a Salamander, he had no intention to harm another human Only until he realized the situation and the state of the Kriegs did he let loose his fury on the corrupted.
  • I could not think of a worse death for a Krieger. To be called a traitor by an angel of the Emperor. Forget being stranded on a pleasure world. THIS is their greatest nightmare of all.

Also wanna point out how well the violence is portrayed, that chain saw didn’t cut the trooper in half fully, but the body collapsed in of it self with few tendons supporting the rest, a sack of meat slumping to the ground. Amazing animation

Hell, the way the salamander talks is so far and beyond how every other SM chapter would talk to “lesser mortals”. Even with his stoicism and angel like status, he put the wellbeing of the marine beyond his own, knowing his own strength, which is the kinda characterisation of "nice" SM I like. Not one thats overtly too "knightly" and self righteous in being nice, but knowing that being gifted with this strength, that compassion can be put between mere mortals and the dangers of the galaxy, without comprimising that intimidating posture. Makes him so much more interesting rather than writing him like a generic paladin character, awesome stuff
  • @Drownedinblood
I think that first kriegsman showing some real willpower being able to even murmur "I can't".
  • @Pyre
Unironically, Sa'kan going from "I have to perform this vital, mournful and delicate rite" to snatching a leaping screaming man out of the air is a better-presented example of Astartes reflexes and speed than any other I've seen or even heard of. All the Salamander-accurate behavior - including trying to figure out what was going on instead of just killing the guy, being so distraught over the loss of the geneseed on top of his lost brothers that he condemned a begging man to suffer despite how clearly wrong the situation was...then thinking better of it at the last moment - is just more gold. Because people get he didn't burn him for being a 'traitor' right? Good sense won out over anger.

ED Nurse here, interesting details I liked about the medications his suit gave him: Adrenal fluid: probably a mixture of epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine to help give him energy and increase blood pressure, cortisol to help increase glucose levels and tissue repair, possibly also testosterone to get him fired up for battle and aldosterone to increase fluid retention from the kidneys as he’s suffered blood loss. Pain suppressor: self explaining, maybe some future opioids Bronchodilators: expand small airways of the lungs to improve gas exchange, probably due more to his 3rd lung collapsing as he mentioned later on and less the smoke as his power armour would filter out the smoke and his genetically enhanced body, already used to Nocturnes toxic atmosphere and the salamanders pyromania, would protect him from harm. (P.S. Please don’t inject a cocktail mixture of these things into yourself if you’re shot down in a war zone without medical clearance. You are, sadly, not a space marine.)
  • @Toyzit10
Can we all praise the Kriegsman willpower? The guy was being mind controlled and still able yo mutter stuffs to proof that he's being control
  • Poor Kriegers. They died turning against an Angel of The Emperor. The Salamander couldn't even tell he wasn't in control of himself...
  • @astraycat5428
i really appreciate how this really showcases just how strong a space marine is compared to a regular human
  • @Kryptick_88
"You earned this pain, TRAITOR..." Yeah, I'd imagine he's very upset because he couldn't continue doing his funeral rites. But the Salamander still gave the guardman a somewhat merciful death. edit: spelling errors

Several points on this clip: -Whatever is going on it's very powerful, even capable to turn the staunchest loyalists to the Emperor against him. Kriegsmen are "just" human, but they would suicide on command if they were aware of being mind controlled. -The humility of the Space Marine thanking the trooper for "rescuing him". Encouraging the soldier while he tries to extract the gene-seed of his brother, then hesitating to kill the guardsmen even after he tried to attack him. -The Space Marine has no trouble dealing with an entire squad of enemies. The simplest moves: thrust, push and slash, minces the troopers. Effortless, no fancy stuff. Murderous precision. -The pain of the last guardsman realizing what he's done must be beyond our comprehension. And to be called a traitor by a Son of the Emperor... no words. -Even after committing the greatest sin, treason. The Space Marine gives mercy by a quick death, maybe realizing something was wrong. Othe marines wouldn't have been so kind.
  • @thedarksoul9879
I could be wrong but isn’t the only reason the Salamander decides to kill the last Kriegsman because they manage to say they were controlled? They say it once and the marine stops in his tracks. As they try to repeat it, he turns around and burns them. Considering he had wanted to leave them to die a slow, traitorous death, him turning around and killing them themselves to me seems like mercy, now that he understood the situation.
  • @turtlehead8386
Damn, he just moped em up. Finally I get to see marines in melee against hordes.
  • @masontrupe9047
The simple fact that Sa'kan tells them "stay back" instead of instantly obliterating them is a testament to the fact that the Salamander's are Big E's best bois
