Quarks are fundamental subatomic particles found in the center of atoms. They interact strongly with one another and are the building blocks of protons and neutrons. Two of them were discovered at Fermilab. In episode 2 of Subatomic Stories, Fermilab’s Dr. Don Lincoln tells us about these fascinating particles.

  • Dang, if I helped to discover one of the particles of the standard model, I'd have that tattooed on my forehead. You're a humble dude.

I would like to know the process for discovering a Standard Model particle.
  • And the top quark was discovered by... well, me. That's a power move if I've ever seen one!
  • "The LHC is a machine composed of many many quarks that we use to look for more quarks so we can quark our quarks"

The last time I was this early the whole universe was quark gluon plasma

Always so happy when you upload a new video! Thanks, and stay safe!

Excellent video series! You're getting to the relevant core of what interests many who seek enlightenment on the subject of the elemental composition of our physical universe. Looking forward to your further treatments on the line of inquiry.

Once again, thanks for putting in the time and effort. I love what you’re doing and it helps even more now that I’ve been in lockdown for a while.
  • Sir Donald of Fermilab! I'm so grateful for your quick lessons about the deepest things!

Thank you Sir. You make complex things easy to understand! I would listen to you hours!
  • @iczemi
Thank you sir for continuing keeping science alive. I really enjoy these vlogs.

My nephew Seth works at FermiLab and I'm so proud of him. I love these videos, and maybe one day I'll come to understand them.
  • You have to do a video talking about only the Top Quark and his mass. Great video btw
  • You are great Dr. Lincoln and so is your channel. I wish I could ever visit the Fermilab!
  • @hubbaba
Thank you good sir for keeping up the videos!
