I watch or listen to documentaries every night. The gentleman narrating this doc made it head and shoulders above the others. I felt like I was sitting around with my friend as he told me a story. Hands down, the best narrator I’ve ever heard. Thank you.

I would love to see stories on Byron Fox, Lee Reherman, Della Reese, Taylor Negron, Jesse Niesson, Lisa Robin Kelly, Suzanne Krull, Ron Lester, Pam the Funkstress, Seagram, Virginia Capers, Robert Guillaume, Natalie Desselle Reid, Tame One, Hurricane G, Tommy Morrison, Kristoff St. John, Rosetta LeNoire, Bill Nunn, Naya Rivera, Andre Harrell, Kirsty Macnoll, Special One of the Conscious Daughters, Melvin Edmonds and Stuart Scott
  • My husband and I went to Vail to hear Etta about 25 yrs ago. Unfortunately, she couldn't tolerate the altitude due to health issues, so we never saw her in person. BUT, I may be a white girl, but I can say without any hesitation, Etta James is one of my top 3 female artists of all time. "I Would Rather Go Blind" is the song I played for my husband that changed his mind about blues music. I love that song, as well as most all her songs. Her voice is like Patsy Cline's. No one will ever sound like her. One and done. Amazing talent and never got the rewards she deserved in this life. I pray she has them in Heaven now. God rest her soul. She is truly an amazing talent.

People get your popcorn ready for this one ☝️
  • If you ever look at Sam Cooke in the casket, his body definitely sustained more trauma than what the official story says, so what Etta is saying makes sense.

the song that she wrote about her boyfriend Harvey Leaving her, was called "All I could Do was Cry" which was originally supposed to go to, Aretha Franklin's sister Erma Franklin, but when Etta James sung the demo for the song, she poured so much emotion into the song, that Leonard was like they got a release this, and Erma Franklin, but it was the best thing they could ever do, because it was a very big hit for Etta James, and it was talking about her watching the love of her life leave her, knowing the woman that he was with, and her basically going to the wedding, and watching them get married, while all she could do was cry, with the catchy lyrics, "For them Life is Just Beginning, while mine is ending, And All I Could Do Was Cry"
