  • Remember in 2000, Willem Dafoe starred in Shadow of the Vampire about a fictionalized account of the making of the original classic Nosferatu. He portrayed actor Max Schreck who played Count Orlok in the 1922 silent film. Willem was nominated for Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Now 24 years later he stars in a Nosferatu remake in a different role.

I think it’s really funny that most people seem to love/enjoy two-thirds of Robert Eggers’ filmography. Like, the people who loved the Lighthouse and Northman don’t like The Witch, but people who like The Witch and The Northman don’t like The Lighthouse. Then there’s the little freaks like me who absolutely eat up everything Eggers makes and are like, “History? Folk lore? Horror?! Fairly period accurate ways of speaking?! Give me!” I think it’s a testament to the fact that Eggers has a stamp on his movies, where you can tell it’s him, but his stories are all wildly different so people who enjoy different elements of horror can find something in some or all of his movies to enjoy. I can’t wait for Nosferatu. I love the shadow of the hand reaching over the city. And it looks like he worked with miniatures or something for some of the cities/castles, so it looks very practical. This movie is so far up my alley, I’m stoked.

In style this reminds me a lot of Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula from the early 90s with Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder.
  • Yeah Nosferatu was an unofficial adaptation of the novel Dracula, which I have and this film is really driving home the vibe of that novel I think: impending doom, cursed evil. What's exciting is that Eggers really tries to transport audiences to another time and place, whether from speaking extinct languages to the authentic costume and design. He has said that he's interested in showing what a dead Transylvanian nobleman would really look like, im intrigued already
  • I liked the original Nosferatu. It’s the first silent/no dialogue film I’ve ever seen. Always wanted one with sound. So this looks like it could be good & like just what I wanted
  • apparently the father from the Witch/ who is Galactacus in F4 reboot is helping Dafoe's character perhaps he's the one that says Vampire a certain way

The setting , tone, time period and environment of this movie is reminiscent to the early Universal Pictures horror classics by Boris Karloff (Frankenstein), Bela Lugosi (Dracula) and Lon Chaney Jr (The Wolfman)!.It has an old school and classic vibe!
  • The Lighthouse was based on a true story, one of which had very little to work off of in terms of what actually happened at that real lighthouse, so I really like the more interpretive nature of The Lighthouse movie.
  • Have you guys heard of the original film Nosferatu silent film.
  • @johnbowen2496
It is a remake of a 1922 filmm. The names were changed and the term nosferatu was coined for the film because of infringement rights since they used dracula for the script.

This looks awesome I love the original 1922 film hopefully this is good

I’m so disappointed that nobody ever mentions Dracula the 1979 movie with frank langella , it is my absolute favourite vampire movie.
  • I can’t freaking wait for this film! I love it that it’s coming in December what a gift hahaha.
  • @TheFILHELL
Say to the BEAT in the trailer. NOS - FE - RA - TU
  • My wife and I are super excited for this one! We love Robert Eggers’ work as horror fans.
  • Might I recommend Let Me In/Let the Right One In, a vampire classic. I didn't see the recent addition, but I wish they'd do a real good scary version of Carmilla and not just make it all lgbtq
