‘Spectacular scenery’: Paul Murray in awe over the Aurora Australis

Published 2024-07-30
Sky News host Paul Murray says there is a “spectacular reason” to go outside on Tuesday night if you live in the southern parts of Australia.

“The phenomenon, which was around in May ... is Aurora Australis,” Mr Murray said.

“Which just produced some of the most spectacular scenery in the skies – well it’s had another run – another version of it.

"Experts are telling us that there's another chance to do it and to have a look at it tonight."

We are in solar maximum right now and our sun has about 200 sunspots. When it has eruptions we get geomagnetic storms that energise our planet from the poles, the larger the eruptions and more inline with earth the better the light show. Our sun is in control of our earth.

What about the weakening magnetic fields and the pole shift that is also contributing to these things

😊 amazingly truly rare moment in time again for the second time ever, ever before ever, the 🌈 Serpent 😊
  • Aurora Australis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen!? Muzza: yes
  • Ah, something ELSE Lucifer Black will never get to enjoy 😊
  • The Aurora's have been so vibrant over the past few years because of the fluctuations and movement in the magnetic field. You don't have to believe me just ask Neil deGrasse Tyson. As someone viewing them from Tassie they're glorious!

It’s all fun and games until people work out that the reason the auroras are visible so far north, and south in the northern hemisphere, is the magnetosphere is collapsing. The huge display in May was incommensurate with the size of the flares and CMEs which caused it. The biggest display in 500 years - but by no means the biggest solar event. That the REAL news. You journos should look into it. If you remember how that’s done.

They are messing with the weather big time, have been for a while, cloud seeding and artificial suns etc..

It is beautiful but of course it is caused by the sun's solar flares and storms and that also usually means that within a few days or a few weeks there will probably be some earthquakes or massive storms or tornadeos or massive floods in a few countries on earth.
