A Quest For Canada

A Pacific Crest Trail Story
On the 14th of May 2021 I journeyed north from the US/Mexico border through California, Oregon and Washington to the US/Canada border. Most of this journey was traveled by foot (2,181 miles) and some by road due to forest fires (471 miles). I was known on the trail as Mad Max; I had the pleasure of meeting some amazing people as well as witnessing some of the most beautiful landscapes this country has to offer.
It was an adventure I will remember for the rest of my life.

Just quit my job...see you folks on the trail. Thanks Cowboy.
  • Just finished watching the whole thing and it's one of the best PCT films I have seen! This needs so much more credit and views! Can't wait for my attempt in 2023.

Only about 40 mins in, but this is one of the BEST pct docs I’ve seen in several years. Awesome job

Like everyone else said great job. I hiked 1900 miles of the PCT in 2022, 4 months later this video brought back so many memories.

Thank you so much for taking us along, very well done mate! Nice visuals, cutting, voice-over, story-telling, the use of different focal lengths, the play with depth of field and especially the music too: All of this shows your dedication to filmmaking and to the trail. Also very nice to see more impressions of the different regions (especially the Sierra) due to the length of the movie. And some very useful pro-tips concerning planning and equipment. Compared to other years, the Sierra seemed much easier to cross. In addition, I highly recommend to watch "The long way home" from Titouan Le Roux, with an epic strech over San Jacinto and trough the Sierra. He did the PCT in a continuous footpath in 2023, the year with the highest snowpack ever. Happy trails Crosshair

  • Thank you for sharing this amazing piece of art! The amount of time to put this together must have been enormous. You have some serious skills! Congratulations on this film and on completing your thru hike! You started 12 days after me and our adventures were so different (timing of fires, weather at the end). Happy Trails - Journey
  • I think this is the first Three hour video I have ever watched on YouTube. But, over 3-4 days I did get the whole thing watched. I think you did a great job with your style of filming and narrating. A+
  • Wow, you did a great job documenting your PCT hike. This is one of my favorite films on the PCT five stars! It needed to be as long as you made to put the adventure into perspective. I have dreamed of doing this for years and I am planning to start my journey on the PCT on March 11th. I hope I can do it. I am going to give it my best shot. My emotions are scared and excited all at the same time. Thanks for sharing your trip! Take it easy and congratulations on your accomplishment! πŸ‘
  • You did an amazing job on your edit πŸ‘Œ So inspiring. Yes I do want to hike the PCT . Looking forward to some of your other content 😎
  • Excellent vlog. The aerial shots really add a dimension. I also have drones but am hesitant to use them where they are restricted. Congratulations on persevering to the end.
  • @rhousto1
I started out by thinking I would only watch a small portion of the video. However, my wife and I really were captured by it. I have watched probably 20 or more people who attempted or completed the trail in 2022 since I had a friend who did it this year. It was worth the time in every respect. Takes special people to take this on. I have backpacked for over 50 years, so have an inkling how challenging this is. Congratulations!
