Check out my new movie: • NORDIC ISLANDS 4K - ICELAND, GREENLAN...
As a professional photographer and tourguide I'm traveling to Greenland frequently since 10 years. In this decade I've been hiking and kayaking hundreds of kilometers on the in search of the perfect photograph. I've seen thousands of icebergs and glaciers, whales and musk ox and of course wild polar fox, but never a white one. But in September 2018 after a sunrise shot at the disco bay I've seen something pure white standing on the top of a small mountain and looking at me. A few seconds later the white thing began to move and disappeared behind the small mountain. So I took my camera with me and began running towards the mountain. After about 20 minutes I reached the top and of course the pure white fox vanished. So I walked further to the shoreline of Disko Bay. Then while climbing down to a gap in the rocks I saw the fox looking down to me just 2 meters over me. During the next 20min we did make friends and the distance became smaller. Then the unthinkable happened. The fox bit into my lens hood and stayed with me.

He's trying to determine whether you're edible or not.

Human: "absolutely phenomenal" Arctic Fox: sniffing his boot "fascinating"

I had the same experience up on the Arctic tundra at -40c, tried dragging me away. Bit onto my boot, which was bigger than he was. He tried for 10 minutes. Amazing little animals to survive such harsh conditions.

The background view, the silence, how calm it is i could watch this for hours

"Oh hey this is a pretty cool camera-" cromch

It's a mixture of a puppy Siberian Husky & a Furret! Never seen anything so precious before and can't believe such a gorgeous little white creature exists up in the Arctic Territory of Denmark! I always keep forgetting that Greenland isn't a country but still consider them as one being that they have their own language & country flag and so jealous for scientists and environmentalists to witness such living beings like this even though I used to have a Siberian Husky myself! 🐺

I love watching young foxes who are both incredibly skittish and yet too curious to just run off
-
Ok but the biggest crime here is we didn’t get a POV of that camera getting MONCHED

ive heard the cat software dog hardware saying about foxes but it never ceases to amaze me how actually catlike they are

This kind of interaction is how the wolves turned into man's best friend.

It's like finding a wild shiny legendary pokemon

You really nailed the contrast and detail on this given the extremely challenging lighting conditions. You really shot that fox individual hairs like a boss. Really professional work.

They're so curious yet catious. Must've been their first encounter with a person. I love cute little critters like this.

"best job in the world" I can only agree with that statement

What a beautiful animal. A priceless experience.

I love that the fox's first instinct upon being faced with a weird black thingy was to very gently nom on it to see if it was food.
