  • Wow, they've made a show out of what it's like to be in Guitar Center on a Saturday.
  • @veryyes1919
-How would you describe your style? ~Melodic. Miscellaneous messy shredding madness
  • Summary of how I reacted: 40% Laughing 45% Cringing 5% "Yeah dude that's some pretty solid stuff"
  • @Akherousia502
Anyone else break out laughing when the guy described his style as 'melodic' and then went into an Yngwie-wannabe sweepfest?
  • @Avery0Wood
Alex is clearly suffering listening to these mindless torrents of notes . But he’s a super nice guy so he doesn’t give them negative comments.

How would you describe your style? - Melodic! mindlessly shreds 6:58

I dare not bad mouth any of thse guys as they had the balls to go through performing a peice knowing it was to be judged, Thats gotta be stressful AF. But honestly I felt pretty good about my own playing after watching this. #3 was definitely my favorite but again horns up to all these players for geetin up there while I fkn sit here at work wondering what I would or wouldnt play. BTW thanks Banger TV for a show like this for the shredders left in the world.
  • The thing that most people don't get, is that shredding is far more about precision than speed. Someone who plays precise will always sound faster (and worlds better) than someone who plays sloppily, even if they're actually playing at a faster tempo.

Host: “Describe your style” Player #4: “Melodic” Player #4 proceeds to completely contradict himself. Seriously, some of these contestants are just not ready. At least #3 killed it.
  • The metal judges are worlds nicer than American idol judges and that speaks volumes

Bri's story is a sad one. Betrayed by her own noise gate. A tale as old as time itself.

What is sweep picking? Sweep picking is hard! That was the best part for me, I like how they actually took on amateur shredders instead of all seasoned improv pros, it might not sound as good but it definitely makes it more real!
  • Damn, I would hate to be having to suffer through those chainsaw guitar tones and trying to stay in the room.

I've played guitar for 20 years now. And the biggest mistake I've ever seen from so many guitarist is that, they'd rather play as fast as possible rather than well. The speed comes with muscle memory over time. I'd rather play well and things with more feeling than some sloppy mess of notes played incoherently. Playing fast is much more impressive when it's clean, controlled and still has feeling. Playing the same pattern at different frets as fast as possible shows a lack of creativity and imo is extremely boring.
