H&K: P30 LEM vs DA/SA vs Safety Models

Published 2023-06-09
When introducing the H&K P30 line with our LTT Customizations, we had several questions on the differences between the size, type and features of each of these models. We put together this video to explain the difference between the sizes and the LEM (Law Enforcement Modification) and DA/SA (Double Action / Single Action) and Safety Models to help you find the right fit.
00:00 - 00:22 Intro
00:23 - 01:14 DA/SA
01:15 - 02:27 LEM

I have the P2000 9mm LEM. Outstanding! Never understood how the P2000 is so overlooked and underappreciated. Especially since 2004, it has become the largest contracted law enforcement sale to the federal government in history. (DHS, ICE, and Border patrol)
  • Best explanation of the HK variants that I've seen so far. Great work!

I carry an H&K P30L with the LEM trigger. The perfect weapon in my view. Took a bit of getting used to the trigger but now I wouldn't want anything else.

The LEM with some trigger work from GrayGuns made me fall in love with my P30.
  • As owner of both DA/SA and LEM variants of USP45c and HK45c, I am in love with LEM.
  • My duty weapon was the H&K USP Compact with the LEM. This was the issue weapon for INS. Carried this weapon until I retired.

LEM is the shitzu. Like any other rig you have learn it. Once you do, however, you will fall in luv ❤️ with it.

My LTT HK P30SK has surpassed my LTT Beretta PX4 compact carry as my favorite and most carried EDC.

So many other videos however this is the clearest of all with reviewing the different variants. Thanks
  • It should be noted that an external safety on a P30 is just a safety and does not function as a decocking lever.

There is more to know about the LEM. The brief description here only sheds a light on its actual complete function. It must be added that the LEM has a short reset after the round fires, but when you release the trigger all the way. The hammer returns to its down position. At that point, it's a full stroke of D.A. again, (with a smooth, light, full stroke pull. It only becomes a heavy pull when not cocked aka the cocking pre loads the spring for the easy light long pull.) Think about it as a hybrid d.a. system.

I had a USP 45 with an LEM. I couldn't stand it. I like da/sa. It works better for Me.

Wish HK would come out with more LEM guns or other mfgs would adopt a similar system
  • @JohnCBobcat
I must be weird, because I kinda figured the decock on a USP would make more sense if the hammer was lowered safely by pushing the safety lever through the Safe position, not through the Fire position.

Can you buy a P30 WITH a manual afety aswellÉÉ I know the MK23 has one..now te USP 45.....
  • I have some questions, please. Are there different trigger weights for the LEM variant? Is the SA trigger pull on a DA/SA variant lighter than the LEM trigger pull?
  • HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK HK that is all.

Any estimate when you may see long slides back in stock 🤔

I wonder if it's possible to convert non HK firearms into LEM style triggers. A PX4 with a LEM would be phenomenal.
