"I called him because our relationship told me to do that...." what a legend. Yoda level.

The movie portrayed them as 90% enemy 10% friends, but this interview tells the opposite. I didnt know they were such good friends. RIP Hunt and Stay blessed Lauda

People need to realize that this is a legitimate living sports god

you can see lauda's sadness in his eyes over james hunt too early death.

It seems that Lauda and Hunt were complimentary polarities for each other, each one the manifestation of what the other was not. There was obviously love between the two of them.

Now James and Niki can race until the end of time. RIP champs

    S. Africa 1976... Teddy Mayer to James Hunt. "How come you didn't pass Lauda?" Hunt... "Because I was driving as bloody fast as I could go"
  • @WalterTonetto
In his autobiography To Hell and Back, Lauda described Hunt as an "open, honest to God pal." Lauda admired Hunt's burst of speed, while Hunt admired Lauda's capacity for analysis and rigour

Niki will be up there with James right now, battling for pole. RIP to two legends of sport.
  • @fredsalfa
Very sad. They look like they were much closer in real life than the movie portrays
  • @colinglen4505
I think  it's obvious that he had enormous affection for hunt.

The Interviewer is both personable and professional, asking clear questions and giving the Interviewee sufficient time to answer without interrupting him. The Interviewer clearly has respect for the Interviewee and he conducts the interview beautifully. This is an excellent example of a well prepared and well presented Interviewer giving his Guest the platform. Subscribed.

Niki did have one true friend. It was James. You can hear and see it all over Niki.

James Hunt - 29 August 1947 - 15 June 1993 Niki Lauda - 22 February 1949 - 20 May 2019 RIP Legends of F1. A relationship that can define odds and is now cemented as the Greatest Relationship Ever.
  • You could tell Lauda really cared about James. He's not a man given to sentimentality and he speaks so fondly and admiringly of his ex friend, as if he lost a dear loved one.
  • James is welcoming Nikki with Open Arms....so sad...Nikki was probably the most intelligent racer in F1 History
  • I am so glad people like Lauda and Hunt are immortalized in form of film. And a fantastic one at that.
  • @crusherbmx
That last story about James Hunt should have been in Rush, maybe at the beginning, then make the movie a flashback.
  • @g13flat
I get the feeling that when Mr Lauda was your friend he was your friend for life and beyond.
