Jordan and Keegan find themselves having to adjust their blackness on a daily basis.

About Key & Peele:
Key & Peele showcases the fearless wit of stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as the duo takes on everything from "Gremlins 2" to systemic racism. With an array of sketches as wide-reaching as they are cringingly accurate, the pair has created a bevy of classic characters, including Wendell, the players of the East/West Bowl and President Obama's Anger Translator.

The linguistic term for this is "code-switching."
  • @skylaellis
Trust me ALL black people who are aware of their surroundings do this. ALL.

I love Key and Peele, two dudes who can mock themselves yet also deliver a message. Dudes are my modern day heroes
  • Coming from a Kenyan, Key does a pretty good Maasai jump, no lie
  • I do this with Irish. my whole family is Irish but ive lived in the UK for my whole life. Put me in Ireland for a week I sound like the guy from the lucky charms ads
  • @Looserkid13
When he started doing the Masai jump i lost it.
  • Not the same thing, but my mom is Southern and when she's talking with her family she sounds distinctly more Southern than she does in other contexts.

One of the best skit writers/performers. Watched and enjoyed every episode. Hope they collaborate again someday.

When he tried to sound black he still sounded white lol

They do such a good job at complementing each other’s levels, like verbally they both stay at the same level and are on the same page and visually even when Keegan was all squatted down peel was jumping straight up and down and that kinda varied the levels so it’s not like there both on the same plane

I'm from Kentucky and I sort of subconsciously adjust my country accent depending on who I'm talking to. When talking to strangers I try to enunciate and subdue any drawl coming from my accent.

I hate how the thumbnail has nothing to do with the video but good routine though
  • As someone from South Africa, you have no idea how much I love this skit 🤣

I’m from Texas, and the most “country” part you can get. That being said when I roll back through my hometown in East Texas, my southern twang shoots up a couple octaves.
