I’ve been a ground dweller all my outdoor life, but bought my first underquilt couple weeks ago. Excited to put it to use.

Just bought an underquilt from UGQ! They have draft collars on them which help prevent wind from sneaking in!
-
Thanks for the helpful insight

Suuper helpful video! Thanks!
-
Super-useful! Quilt seems to be the way.
-
what about double layered hammocks for pads? those are a lot easier to work with, right?
-
Went out on my first solo last night. Used the Z-Lite. Never again! Too many problems to list!
-
I became a hammock hiker this year, so i tried to use my inflating pad, self-inflating pad and a foam pad first. And i got that sweat/condensation trouble as well. Now i'm ordering the Subito underquilt from Aliexpress for 28$...

Good video trip.......people are better for your input!!!!!

As long as you block the wind from passing under your hammock you can do without both. Tarp and a fire is all you need. Whiskey is cheaper than an underquilt. lol
-
what if you use a sleeping bag without anything else? or like these cocoon type sleeping bags that you can wrap around your hammock
-
I've never tried an underquilt except for a failed attempt with my old sleeping bag haha. But underquilt do seem better imo.
-
I use a thermal tarp, you can put it around the bottom of the hammock or lay it in the hammock. You would be surprised how warm a thermal tarp is.
-
what about the Klimat hammock pad
-
Do the foam pads lose their shape or tear if you use them in the hammock?
-
My big Agnes q core is amazing....4" thick, and sleeps amazing......it's as good as home
-
Have you ever tried a reflective emergency thermal blanket / gold foil under a sleeping bag instead of an underquilt in 45-50 deg. weather?
-
This underquilt looks very shitty and easy to make at home. Great inspiration for me :) Time to get to my sewing machine and upgrade my kit.

Those z lite pads are great for a million things.....sleeping ...kneeling to cut wood.....sitting by the fire....a mat to stand on changing your clothes....I never leave mine at home
