When you realize the tiger skin hanging behind Tipu is probably him when he was still a tiger.
  • @Angel-iu7um
I love how you can see the surprise on Tipu's face when he raised the glass to his followers about a minute or so in as they rushed towards him to get it, followed by slow recognition that these are the people who had murdered him, before the quick switch to rage before breaking the glass for them to indulge in their own greed. Going on taking a seat watching as it overcomes them not with joy but a neutral expression while clearly angry with them for what they did.

Here’s my understanding : Tipu was originally a tiger spirit protecting his land, and human hunters killed him, however they only killed his tiger form and actually just “freed” him in a way so he could achieve his true strength as a god. I believe the skinned tiger we see is tipu’s past body. Now, as a “human” he is worshipped due to his ability to create flowers that can turn into gold/money. This is why his followers crave the drink (tipu’s blood), because it can bloom said flowers that will bring them wealth.

I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to have a character with reason and legitimacy for their god-like powers. I love this.
  • Cloviloop: Tipu is a vengeful spirit turned into a god. My brain: Hello, would you like to take a moment to talk about our lord and savior flower kitty?
  • I JUST REALIZED the flowers that the members of the religion who worshipped Tipu coughed up might be a reference to a myth called Hanahaki disease, where someone coughs up flowers when romantic love is not returned from someone they love. Tipu didnt love them back...
  • One thing I love about this animation is the storytelling within tiny details. When Tipu's followers turn on him and are overcome with greed, Tipu isn't surprised. He's disappointed and angry but not surprised and the face he makes at 1:26 solidifies this. He was expecting this, he was preparing for this. He was setting them up. I've watched this animation so many times. It's so pretty and I could watch it so many times in a row without getting tired of it. Doesn't help that I love tigers and big cats so much (and just cats in general).

Fun fact: Every frame in this animation is wallpaper-friendly

Tipu looks like the god of madness. The drink in his hand when he toasted was probably insanity distilled, which is actually quite appealing. The followers who slaughtered him didn't know what they did, and worshipped him in the form of a child wearing tigerskin. When the child made a toast, the followers caught sight of the insanity and desired it more than anything else. This was Tipu's trick all along. He crushed the wine glass and the followers went mad for the drink. There were flowers blooming out of the drink, other godly statues, and out of the followers, showing Tipu's power over them. The followers turned into flowers themselves when they touched the insanity. The incense stick is used for ceremonial reasons, and Tipu is constantly seen with one, representing his divinity. In the last scene, he is shown lounging on flowers. This is his revenge against the followers. Dead, but not quite dead enough to not feel pain.
  • Tipu's tail is split in two, reminds me of the nekomata, a japanese mythical creature. When a cat lives a very long life and dies of old age they get second tail which allows them to walk in two feet, they develop magic powers shorty after; they're supposedly very wise and their meows sound like human speech.

I swear more animation memes need to be more like this Not just looping characters head bopping to the music with the occassional frame of something other than that Like- everything from the animation, colors, and story are just so well done here
  • @Katastrophe2007
Tipu: is a dangerous forest spirit who can kill you with one whip of his giant tail The entire fanbase: aw a kitty
  • this is such a great animation, the amount of effort put into it is just.. chefs kiss it really portrays the whole "what goes around comes back around to you" and "nature gets revenge" themes really well + the art is just fantastic
  • If you look at 0:54 , when Tipu's original body died, they had what looks like a collar on them. Were they a pet? Tracked by animal specialist killed by game hunters? Any theories guys? Him being a pet would explain the strange power and why he was used to being cared for by humans.
  • ....why do I feel like this would be a great anime- Edit: woah I just looked at this again and it got a bunch of likes ty-
  • @bnnnackee1073
man those transitions took me out for a dinner, a home to stay for the night, and kissed me goodnight while softly telling tales about Tipu
  • The flowers they are fighting for are opium poppies. You see several references to opium related things such as the MC smoking opium through an opium pipe, the people worshipping the tiger because he had the opium, and everyone fighting to make money off and to consume the opium. So my theory is that the MC was a tiger slaughtered by opium dealers bc the MC lived in the area where the flowers grew. The MC then came back as a forest spirit, and went to get revenge against the opium dealers and addict who killed them by getting control of the opium and destroying it.

i love this animation so much, i've watched it a thousand times, and i gotta say, the story here is so enthralling, and the art and animation style just adds to it's beauty. A tiger deity wonders the forest, and unbeknowst to the hunters, they have just killed their god, skinned him, and made him decoration for the gods chruch. the god knows they killed him, knows that is his skin. he sees the irony long before the worshippers do, seeing as how they lunged for the wine anyways. they skinned the tiger, and expected the skinned tiger to still want them around.
