The Player II version of Fender’s legendary Telecaster showcases value-packed upgrades and increased comfort for gigging musicians, singer-songwriters, home-studio creators and more. Playability has been improved with a rosewood (rather than pau ferro, as on the 2018 Player series model) or maple fingerboard with super-smooth rolled edges. Tuning ease and integrity are enhanced with Fender ClassicGear tuning machines with a precise 18:1 gear ratio. The wow factor gets a boost with timeless Fender finishes, as well as new, vintage-inspired colors never-before-seen on production models. The Player II Telecaster also features an alder body, modern C-shape neck, 22 medium-jumbo frets, Alnico V Tele single-coils and a six-saddle string-through-body bridge.

“The cultural significance of the Telecaster is massive,” says jazz guitarist and former prodigy (he was the subject of a music documentary at eight years old, played the Grammy Awards at 12 and became a faculty member of the Stanford Jazz Workshop at 15) Julian Lage. “One of my gods is Jimmy Bryant—an early adopter of the Telecaster—and his touch, tone, facility and conception on this instrument is everything I associate with the modern jazz guitar player. Because the Tele is a solidbody, the expressiveness and nuance of everything I play goes directly to the pickups. That was a big win as the Telecaster dug me deeper into the world of jazz. The Player II Telecaster speaks to what I like about all Telecasters—something that’s balanced and comfortable to play, and that has the right tonal ratio between attack and a blooming warmth.”

Just like the Player II Stratocaster, the Player II Telecaster is available in chambered ash and chambered mahogany versions.

Massive shout out to guitar center for getting Julian to demo the telecaster instead of someone playing generic rock and blues riffs.
  • @julianhasse821
This is not a demo. This is a free master class on Telecaster sounds. Thanks, Fender for bringing this Maestro to the masses!
  • @OIP_1
surely this is the most sophisticated playing in any guitar demo ever
  • @J_Fowler
Julian just elevated the 'guitar demo video' to an elegant art form
  • @adinkin09
Julian was the perfect choice to demo the Tele; he is able to showcase the guitar's tonal range and versatility plus he plays one regularly. Nicely done GC!

Julian Lage could sell fire to the devil. One of the most humble dudes to ever pick up six strings.

I’ve never seen or heard this man play before. But wow, I have been missing something! Just watching his fingers stretch out over the fretboard in crazy distances and directions is just mind blowing. This new Tele looks and sounds amazing under his playing.
  • @terminatoreggs
Love how he seems so happily surprised at what he's playing. True improviser.
  • @aubreyxengland
watch him while he plays - the way he is able to commune with any guitar is astonishing
  • @gentrywhite4035
I could listen to this guy read the phonebook and be certain he would find something new and interesting to say about it. This guy has clearly thought very critically about every aspect of guitar. Pure genius.
  • @tofuamour
When Julian plays the guitar, it becomes the piano. What a player changing the paradigm of playing the guitar in many senses.
  • @chrislink73
Julian and a telecaster into a deluxe reverb are a match made in heaven.
