The Secret To Contentment (With Greg Laurie)

We think if we had a nicer car or a bigger house or a larger salary or a new face or new body, then we’d be content.
Writing to the Christians in Philippi, the apostle Paul said, “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little” (Philippians 4:11–12 NLT).
Paul was in difficult circumstances when he wrote these words. He wasn’t spouting theories from an ivory tower. He was under house arrest, writing from the school of hard knocks. Yet Paul found contentment because he rejoiced in the Lord.
Earlier in Philippians 4, he wrote, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (verse 4 NKJV). He didn’t say that we should rejoice in circumstances. Sometimes that’s hard to do. But Paul did say that we should rejoice in the Lord.

This was a wonderful teaching. I've been all my life. I've loved the Lord all my adult life, and God has definitely had to tell me to stop talking also. When I was young, I was nicknamed "motor mouth." Luckily, I grew out of that, mostly. Thank you for showing me God's divine nature on my human life. Praise God you're His Blessings

Greg, thanks to this sermon today I am going to start the process of forgiving someone that is the very first person I felt disgust and so close to hate which is something I've never felt before, because it's making me ill. I tell Jesus that can't stand that spirit inside me every minute of everyday. I rebuke it over and over nut c as I go thru my day. But it creeps in and I want to find her and slap her face. So I'm ready now to rid my heart of that emotion of hate, Please pray for me because I really want to be free of this terrible feeling. That kind of feeling takes up to much room that could be filling with love for others. Thank you
