Man, I was so young... and my dad came home one night from work saying he read the newspaper and there was an article about this new and upcoming band called Linkin Park. He thought I'd like them, so he took me to Sam Goody, where he bought me this album, and Max Payne, and I just remember throwing this into my Walkman, and playing Max Payne... man, where do the years go...

*Even if you're not with me, I'm with you * Man, that hits different now... His voice will always be with us... 😭

"No matter how far we've come... I can't wait to see tomorrow with you." That hits a million times harder coming from him now...

With how fucking horribly depressing everything Chester wrote was I’m absolutely amazed he had the strength to carry on as long he did. It was never a secret, he tried to express it to alleviate his demons and they unfortunately won. Absolutely beautiful in so many ways as well as tragic

Linkin Park - With You [Mike Shinoda] I woke up in a dream today to the cold of the static And put my cold feet on the floor Forgot all about yesterday Remembering I'm pretending to be where I'm not anymore A little taste of hypocrisy And I'm left in the wake of the mistake, slow to react And though you're so close to me You're still so distant and I can't bring you back [Chester Bennington] It's true, the way I feel Was promised by your face The sound of your voice Painted on my memories Even if you're not with me [Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda ] I'm with you You, now I see, keeping everything inside With you You, now I see, even when I close my eyes [Mike Shinoda] I hit you and you hit me back We fall to the floor, the rest of the day stands still Fine line between this and that When things go wrong, I pretend the past isn't real Now I'm trapped in this memory And I'm left in the wake of the mistake, slow to react So even though you're close to me You're still so distant and I can't bring you back [Chester Bennington] It's true the way I feel Was promised by your face The sound of your voice Painted on my memories Even if you're not with me [Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda ] I'm with you You, now I see, keeping everything inside With you You, now I see, even when I close my eyes With you You, now I see, keeping everything inside With you You, now I see, even when I close my eyes [Chester Bennington] No, no matter how far we've come I can't wait to see tomorrow No matter how far we've come I, I can't wait to see tomorrow [Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda ] With you You, now I see, keeping everything inside With you You, now I see, even when I close my eyes With you You, now I see, keeping everything inside With you You, now I see, even when I close my eyes
  • This band is very POWERFUL. The songs seem to touch on everything in life. Sorry it ended they way it did! Rest in peace Chester
  • This one was so underrated... Maybe the best song on the album.

This music is so human. I've heard linkin park criticized because they are "too negative and dark". From my experience its helpful when someone tells me that they care or that they've there. To hear someone echo the way that you think and feel, especially when it's about the pain that you go through, it can feel really profound and quell the feeling puff isolation that people can feel when depressed. I was listening to by myself and the line "I make the right moves but I'm lost within' resonated so much. Even if it did based on my subjective interpretation, it still resonated. I know what I need to do to overcome depression. But I still feel lost and scared and alone even when I fight hard against it. It's a constant feeling of incompetence and a lack of energy that can be so overwhelming. And I almost cried listening back to that line, because it's exactly how I feel. I've heard people say that the band sounds terrible, that the messages in the songs encourage a negative outlook. And I disagree. And while there are songs where that idea might have some ground like given up, my view is that mosts of these songs satisfy that human desire to not feel alone in one's pain and experience in life. When I listen to these songs it's like they're saying to me, "hey, you're not alone. We feel what you feel too" Different people like different music, and I feel like different people react emotionally to different types of delivery. When I listen to a song like mandisa's "overcomer" song, I feel nothing. It goes: "You're an overcomer stay in the fight til the final round". That doesn't make it a bad song, it just means that the music that helps me to tell uplifted is the music that delivers its message in a venting way. Because as I said, it makes me feel just a little bit less alone. Sometimes I need angry muaic to numb the frustration and rage. Maybe I'm just a stupid hormonal teen, idk. I just think that people hear the anger and the dark subjects and take it at face value. I think the band is under appreciated and I would love if the band wasn't over. I listened to this music during my junior year of high school, and into my senior year. The music is dripping with emotion and memories of teachers, hallways, classrooms, holidays, homework, and really bad times. I've been listening to manson lately and I have to admit, it's really refreshing to hear something so human, so genuine, and so beautiful. I feel like this is my love letter to linkin park. I love them and I always will
