These stories bring me back to my days of addiction. These stories remind me that it doesn't get any better out there. I'm grateful that I am almost 15 yrs clean.

Never heard Mark converse so much. You can tell Mark genuinely wants to see these people do better.

I like how self reflected he is. All the best Ricardo, stay strong.

I've been clean from crystal meth since 1984. You can do this Ricardo. You are worthy.
  • Ricardo, you can already feel proud of the courage shown in his honesty. All the best to you!
  • He's responsible to a fault. I admire his honesty & self awareness so much. The problem is that he takes responsibility for things that are most certainly not his fault. I see that as self hate, sabotage, destruction. I can relate. The serenity prayer is something that could help center Ricardo. His childhood trauma needs to be addressed. He's young & has a lot of years left to get things right. God bless you Ricardo. Your potential is endless. I'm praying for your success.

You can do it Ricardo! My Dad was sold by his mother, had a horrible father, and had his addictions. He fought hard and became an amazing father, and an inspiration to thousands of people. You have that same light my Dad had. You can do it! It will be hard, a fight, but you can do it one day at a time!
  • Whoever's reading this and struggled or still are struggling with addiction remember you are loved and you mean the world to someone......

It's pretty rare that these make me cry. I think I have become numb. This interview made me cry. I am rooting for you Ricardo. You can do it. I believe in you! Stop looking backwards, it's making you trip. Look forward in hope!

When I was 32 I went back to school, by the time I was 37 I became a professional. Make promises to your son and keep them, like dates. Take him to the park, a ball game, show up at his school meets, plays. Be supportive of him.

I wish mark would ask, “what scares you most, about being sober?”

The story about his grandmother passing broke my heart. The weight of the world is on this man's shoulders and it's a miracle he's held it up as long as he has. If you read this Ricardo, addiction isn't your fault. I struggle with it too. It makes us do things that don't make sense to a sober person and the effects cause pain that lasts a lifetime. You can overcome this. You can be there for your son. You've already done the hardest part, which is go back through your history and contemplate your choices. My heart is with you.

When Ricardo stated, “I didn’t know it was wrong…” resonated with me. I grew up isolated on a farm with no family or friends around other then my mom, mute sister and occasionally by dad would come to abuse. I had no idea rape, psychological abuse, bullying from my mother was wrong. I was ashamed of the physical abuse, forced child labor, locked in a closet and neglect so I knew something wasn’t right. When you grow up a certain way, you don’t know any different. To this day I don’t know if I was more afraid of my of mother or the things that happened in the group home 😢

"Family dysfunction rolls down from generation to generation, like a fire in the woods, taking down everything in its path until one person in one generation has the courage to turn and face the flames. That person brings peace to their ancestors and spares the children that follow.” You're fighting fires. You're seeing your ego and learning from your mistakes. You're strong and beautiful. Make it right with your son.🔥
