This giant episode collects every video I’ve done on "The Art of War", written by Sun Tzu. It's a full chapter-by-chapter breakdown.

The book contains ideas on leadership, survival and success. Written over 2000 years ago, it is still relevant today as the lessons can be applied to business, politics and life in general.

This video is an animated summary of each chapter from the book, including historical anecdotes and takeaways from the passages.

"No battle plans survives the contact with the enemy" is the most important lesson in life. You can plan, think and scheme all want, but very rarely does the enemy indulge.

"Phineas, I know what we're gonna do today" Ferb
  • Like Mike Tyson said everybody has a plan until you punch them in the face
  • One does not just read "The Art of War" as any novel. It must be studied and pondered.
  • @Dasalsim
It's ironic that this actually comes off more as the "Art of Peace" than of war
  • Wow! I was searching for a way to teach my child The Art of War as a unit study. This is an invaluable resource to create my own unit study around.

This actually helps me understand the Art of War a lot more now, especially with the examples

there were only a few men inside the 'Trojan horse"; they opened the gate in the night for the rest of the army

damn two and a half hours. this should be good

Kinda ironic to quote McArthur... A guy who was losing the war early on, do to his disdain for plans and stock, calling it "defeatism" preferring haste maneuvering that got in besieged with no supplies.

Who else fell asleep watching vsauce or thoughty2 and woke up here?

Thanks for posting this. There's no other summary like this on youtube
  • Fantastic way to explain a book that everyone should be taught. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thanks

Awesome video. I read the art of war when i was about 15 over a summer from high school. I somewhat understood parts of it but using good clear examples really helps the ideas take shape.

I would love to buy a copy of The Art of War with THIS specific commentary

#7: apply this to life. You'll see that many people aren't drawing up much plans.
  • I've read and do have the book myself..but, what the book doesn't tel you (and I never realized until this) that, for every lesson Sun Tzu teaches, there is a battle or historical example already set! I mean EVERY single one of them! That's astounding and it PROVES the timeline of just how far gone we really are now. That clock started counting down in 1948 when Israel became a nation again. Notice the technology. The bomb had just been used for the first time, two world wars killed millions Roswell got covered up. I mention Roswell because of that timing. It wasn't long after that the transistor came along. Then, masers, lasers, fiber optics, kevlar, space flight, stealth technology, etc, etc..the list is endless! Now? We have the internet, A.I. and the new tower of Babel - CERN, the most complex and largest machine EVER BUILT for atom smashing. There's SO much wire and cable at CERN that it could parallel Earth's orbit around the sun TWICE! TWICE!! Can you even picture that? All those spools. That's staggering. How much farther can we keep this up before something gives? God only knows - literally. What you see here is "the knowledge of good and evil" and a product of the original sin. That dawned on me one night when I first saw this video a few months back. There IS an art to violence and there's a certain wisdom that comes with a price. It took me over 50 years to realize this. With each year, it gets faster and faster and more distracting. Don't allow the world to deceive and distract you away from the truth. If you're younger, you'll see what I mean one day. If you're older like me, you KNOW exactly what I mean. Some things don't come from books or a computer. Some things only come with age and a day comes when you think to yourself: "Damn! Why didn't I see that before? It's been right in front of me all along!" No better place to hide something than 'in plain sight'. Wouldn't you agree?
