Lloyd Grant would hang out at the Brea Guitar Center playing Metallica songs and telling people he was the original guitar player for Metallica.  Nobody believed him.  Pretty funny to see him up there playing with them.

Guess Lloyd didn't get the memo about Flying V night...

McGovney actually talked about how one time he went to a show after he stepped down for Cliff and he said when he tried to go back stage to see the guys everyone blew him off and the bands new manager actually got pissed at him for being there. The only guy that payed him attention and stood up for him? The one and only Cliff Burton. Cliff ripped the manager apart and told him to show some respect to an original member of the band while the others in the band never even said hi. Hope that they've patched their relationship up now and this wasn't just a gimmick. RIP Cliff.
  • Can we get Jason and the ghost of Cliff up there to play too and just have 4 guitarists and 4 bassists?

I remember reading that Lloyd Grant was James Hetfield's guitar instructor during the genesis of Metallica, Lars says here that Lloyd was the first musician to answer his ad when he was starting Metallica so I'd assume Lloyd was the guy that introduced James to Lars. Dude deserves more credit in Metallica lore.

4 guitars, 2 basses, and Lars still manages to ensure he’s louder than everyone else.

This is like the episode of power rangers where all the red rangers got together to kill some bad guy, only metal. lol

I am sure that was an awkward moment when Mustaine and McGovney hugged, I think Ron was shocked... Get it?

2:12 - 2:17 I Love this moment of James and Dave looking at each other and being happy like the good old days. It's like Dave was reliving it again
  • @Justafoo_04
There’s something so magical whenever Dave and James play together

Metallica is an Equal Opportunity band: black guitarist, latino bass player, red head guitarist, Scandanavian drummer.

You have to love how Lloyd had no intentions of finishing that lead... ever.

I have had the pleasure of jamming with Lloyd Grant on a couple of occasions, he is a very cool guy and extremely talented guitar player, He introduce me to Lars back when he did the demo with them.
