How Alaskan Rescue Choppers Can Keep Flying for Over 14 Hours | Ice Airport Alaska | Smithsonian

100 miles north of Anchorage, a Pave Hawk rescue chopper approaches a hovering HC-130, and performs a mid-air refuelling. Alaska is a huge state, and rescues can take over 14 hours—far beyond the capacity of a Pave Hawk which only has a range of about 400 miles.
