In this video, I try out a hard Trick Room team designed by 2017 World Champion Ryota Otsubo! The team utilizes Farigiraf as the Trick Room setter and strong attackers such as Flame Orb Guts Hariyama, Safety Googles Kingambit, and Choice Specs Torkoal!

  • Now that finals are finished, I can finally relax and watch these without the guilt of procrastinating lol
  • @crowel4856
I love Rabsca as a trick room user, it's stats and move pool in general are pretty good, and it gets Revival Blessing which is unique and can turn a game around
  • @kaijulicious
with all the wacky teams floating around I’m hoping to see someone come up with a good way to use Dundunsparce and it’s signature move that just breaks protects
  • @Kasaaz
I think it's fascinating the way the meta is shifting towards Mid-speed and both Tailwind and Trick Room reactively, or with a mix of extremes, a Trick Room team, but with some really fast mons that have priority to operate in Trick Room.

Yo Aaron , GG game 2, Safety goggles is so good on King Gambit lol also I did not know Gholdengo is immune to it’s own teammates helping hand, had I got that off I think it was a double KO. You played well, until next time 🤞
  • Aaron sharing his thoughts during battle actually help tons for me to learn
  • @jazkat1
I watched your videos back in 2014 and just started getting back into vgc in S/V. Super happy to see you've been making fantastic content this whole time and it's nice to jump back into the scene with a familiar face.
  • I'm so glad you're featuring a hardcore trick room team here. Trick room teams are easily my favorite strategy in VGC!! 🥰
  • @pedplays9496
I think focus sash rabsca is a great trick room setter because it can set up trick room, use revival blessing, and can even be a great offensive pokemon with its great move pool.
  • You should make a video on Orcorico! Dancer + Baton Pass is incredible for enabling sweepers in your party.

Rabsca + Weakness Policy + Weather Ball in sun with Torkoal is chef's kiss
  • I’ve actually been running a LilliKoal comp that’s pretty similar to this, but I’ve been using Tera Rock Hariyama and it’s been phenomenal for surprise KOs and for helping in this type of team’s weaker matchups vs Armarouge, Ceruledge, and some of the Flying types that threaten Hariyama. It’s also been really funny getting to OHKO an enemy Arcanine even after Intimidate

I've been playing around with a really similar team! Torkoal kinda feels bad with all the Armarouge in the meta but when they don't have an answer he really sweeps hard. Trick Room on Meowscarada over Knock Off or Protect is a really cool option to try out too!
  • You and Wolfe are the best competitive pokemon content on the internet. Change my mind
  • Hey Aaron! Thanks very much for your effort in making this amazing content. Your channel has been a big factor in me picking up Scarlet after a few years off the competitive scene, and I have been loving it! You've also got a soothing voice that helps me sleep LOL. Farigiraf is also my personal favourite Trick Room user! Gen 2 is my favourite, so seeing an old favourite get such a cool evolution has me using it lots!

Trick Room is extremely interesting to me. On the one hand, it's a team style that's inherently incredibly straight-forward in gameplan, which, from experiences, really takes the heat of team preview away, the phase where I usually mess up and get nervous the most. On the OTHER hand, it's one of the hardest styles to actually build on cartridge, which is why I still have never used a full TR team outside of Showdown. I really need to get onto 0IV Ditto hunting. Maybe during the upcoming holiday. My favorite TR setter in Gen9 has to be Farigiraf. Girafarig is an unlikely favorite of mine because its exclusion in Crystal way back meant it would forever be the last missing piece in my dex until the battery died - I used it in a lot of playthroughs after and it grew on me, because it's a pretty fun mon. When it got an evolution, and one that looks so great to boot, I was elated. I even got a shiny one randomly. As mentioned above, I have yet to build a full TR team, but that Farigiraf is already a big part of my current team as a Trick Room imprison mon and also as a safety measure for when my Tailwind doesn't go up. It's rather bulky, it can shut down Sylveon and Indeedee because it gets Hypervoice and Tera Blast (that always has STAB!) and it's even decently strong. Mine obviously doesn't have min speed, but the Giraf's speed tier is high enough to work pretty okay in both TR and Tailwind, which is also fun.

oml I just realised Ryoto gave Dragonite Ice Spinner to get rid of Psychic terrain Ryoto you goddamn genius
  • @tomwolfe7782
Hariyama has poor defenses, but triple-digit HP. I've found that 128/128 defenses instead of 252 HP works to survive more hits. Can't remember the last time Make It Rain one-shot mine.
