I like how people are always saying how awkard it must be for fishmen to serve fish as if fish dont eat other fish all the time
  • @Makaylalexis
I think the accents are just to show how wide, diverse and mixed the world is. I think Morgan is on the right track, they were all raised in different places with different people

Guys, this isn’t a period piece so wardrobe choices does not reflect Earth history. Also, if you watch the anime and check out the manga, their outfits are actually accurate.
  • I like the accent difference because i like to think it really represents the fact that garp didn't spend a lot of time with luffy when he was growing up because of his work as a marine, he was raised by many different people and in the end accent is something you pick up from the people around you while you grow up, but it's probably just the casting didn't match so they had to just roll with it 😂

I'm from Argentina, my grandma is a descendant of Jewish-Germans and her family came over here when tensions started rising in Europe against Jewish people. She has a very thick accent she got from her family. I don't share that accent at all, that's a thing that happens all the time, especially in diverse families.

I so love the diversity of this show. The different accents, the clothing even! And no one seems to care. It's lovely! The way every world should be!
  • Since you guys seemed confused, Mihawks line about being a frog croaking in a well is straight outta the manga/anime. He wasn't referencing how Zoro had been in a well lol he was talking about Zoros strength. Basically, the message was this. You're like a frog croaking loudly, prooving its the biggest in a tiny pond. But try leaving that little pond...and you'll soon realize you aren't as big and bad as you thought you were. In otherwords, he was telling Zoro 'You may have earned yourself a small reputation here in the east blue....but that means NOTHING in the grandline.'

"Wounds on the back are a swordsman's greatest shame" sounds like a line that could be in a Wutang Clan song.

I think the lesson Zoro learned from Kuina's death is that death can happen at anytime and be innocuous. I think that is why he is so gunho on fighting Mihawk now. What if he or his new goal Mihawk just died and he never had the chance? Like with Kuina. That, I think, is why he said he couldn't retreat.

Accents are not decided by genes 🤣🤣🤣🤣 cmon bruh. The only inaccuracy is kid Luffy being American and adult Luffy being Mexican, but you just gotta look over that. Casting Luffy was near impossible but they somehow managed to make it work

so, the accents. the source material for this is a black and white comic, and the setting is not earth. however, the creator, oda, was once asked where the characters would be from if they were from earth. luffy, if he was from a real place and not the goa kingdom on dawn island, would be brazilian, for example. oda has only done this for the main crew, there are too many characters to do it for all of them. however, the casting team wanted to show their love for the series by casting people who look and sound like they're from the places oda said the crew members are from. so, iñaki godoy is mexican, speaks spanish and comes with the accent attached. he was cast for luffy because he looks like luffy and is from an analogue culture. this is a very deep cut, and while the actors could have trained their accents out with vocal coaches, there's no reason to. with a world this diverse, a little bit of accent inconsistency is not gonna be the shot that sinks the ship lol.
  • The author of the manga has stated where each member of the crew would be from in our world if they lived in it. Luffy is Brazil Zoro is japan Nami is Sweden Usopp is South Africa Sanji is France

Even if I didn't know anything about One Piece? My understanding as to how Garp & Luffy can be related is just which parent has the stronger genes. One of my cousins is a dark skin Mexican and all of his children his son especially looks like him but got their mother's white skin & blue eyes.
  • @BobbyMarley718
Accents are based on where you grow up not who your related to, Especially if you didn't grow up with said family. People in the same family have different accents all the time.
  • anime zoro IS a bit sillier. He's serious but he also does stupid shit with a straight face, or gets annoyed when he gets caught up in stupid shit. ANime zoro gets caught in a trap and he decides, well, if i can't escape, I may as well make a cool pose when I die, or doing the tarzan yell randomly when swinging through a jungle on a rope.

The frog croaking in a well thing is adapted from it's original meaning. It's actually a phrase born from a fable about how a frog in the bottom of the well would only see the sky through it's small opening and believed that to be the whole world and so once the frog exits the well they're out in a much larger world than they believed. The phrase is used similar to like "big fish in a small pond" basically calling him cocky and arrogant for believing he had the skill to take on the greatest swordsman despite only knowing the waters of the east blue.

cornbeef fried rice is a thing you can see in some Caribbean isles and i believe part of South Asia . Kinda fits the Pirates theme i guess
  • @kkaisa6685
My grandfather is fair skined with an English accent, while I have dark skin with a completely differnt accent. Its not that crazy. Peopel have different accents living in the same country.
