Kennedy has discussed in podcasts that he turned to faith in a higher power in order to stop doing heroin when he was young. He was present as a teenager when his father was killed too.

Interesting. Re: your last comment, he has been in recovery for 40 years and service to others is a key way he stays sober — a life lived for others. Could be he has subjugated that self-doubt into a faith in good works.

His late wife was an alcoholic and died from depression, committed suicide. This was years after their divorce.

He's a Capricorn... a few planets in Cap. Of course he doubts himself!! Also, he is into spirituality. So, is his wife.. they have both appeared on "spiritual" shows... if you ever take the time to listen to the many 2 hour (uncut, unedited) interviews you would learn A Lot about him..

Enjoyed your reading but what you said about him at the end...spiritual dogma from the outside, is really the exact opposite of RFK. He is NOT religious in any traditional sense, he is internally spiritual, and does not go to church regularly.

Also to clarify, he was a long time atheist but made what he calls the logical decision to believe in god so that he would have a better outcome with the 12 step program. His faith involves hiking and communing with nature on a daily basis. He is not a religious zealot.

I think he has such potential to influence the direction and outcome of this election that perhaps he ends up founding a new and seriously viable party that in four years COULD put up someone to win the presidency under his leadership.
