1:20 The reason you have to push in so hard is because they aren't Phillips screws they are JIS screws which are mildly different sized. Phillips will work, but if you never want to worry about stripping again start using the JIS bits(which are in the Pro Tech Toolkit; it's the row of cross headed bits on the 3rd or 4th row from the top, marked with J000-J1). Edit: It should be mentioned that all Japanese electronics use JIS screws, and will wear much less if the correct bits are used.

You're killing me, Steve. It was so satisfying, watching you clean off the word "Parts", until you stopped and left half the word there...

17:50 they were installing a mod chip. a v6 modchip requires soldering to those points and cutting away the CPU shield..

Love this channel, hope all goes well with your recovery

One of the most devastating feelings I get when repairing stuff; is knowing I spent a lot of time, from hours to sometimes days, trying to fix something. Only for it to still be broken in the end. Also, one of the most satisfying things is spending a lot of time on something and it being fixed. One saps your moral, but the other gives such a good high and great feeling of satisfaction combined with knowing that time was justified because it's working now. Unfortunately, I've experienced the former more times than the latter haha. So glad you were able to fix that "modded" OLED switch.
  • WHAT THE.....!!! I feel robbed!!!! I didn't get to see you place the PERFECT amount of thermo paste...heart broken, I feel dirty........... lololol.

One thing I've noticed about repair shops is that they dont want or know how to replace chips. It's why I like your videos, you look at almost everything that could be wrong with the devices.

I’m a huge fan of your main channel. So glad you started this long form channel! I’m not too skilled in electronics repair, but it’s so fascinating to see the inner workings of all this stuff. Hope all is going well with your recovery!
  • @Nodicus
Never ceases to amaze me with how intuitive you are when it comes to fixing things. People can learn the skills but not everyone has your natural talent with deduction
  • @sevans66

Amazing thanks really enjoyed the video 😊
  • Hi I see all your videos, especially the consoles fixes as they are so much informative and pleasing to watch. You work in a way that's so peaceful and precise, I can learn from your repairs! I never repair a console yet but I probably get into this as soon as possible and I can use lots of your videos as a guide. I hope you get well, I was a little sad with your announcement in the previous video. Greetings from Marche, Italy!!! :D Edit: grammar error
  • @jrose92081
Awesome to see you had success with these. Last one a worked on replacing one of the chips I blew 3 capacitors off the board lol. Had my air too high by accident.

Just found your other channel Steve. Fantastic info as I have a couple of extra Switches with “issues” 😆 One does an odd thing where 1 joy con doesn’t work when attached to the rail, but works when bluetoothed. Just you showing how you strip down, and diagnose really helps! Hope you’re feeling ok too.
