Pluto, positioned 3.5 billion miles from Earth, is a small, icy world with a distinctive atmosphere, featuring potential underground oceans, geysers, and even hints of primitive life. Despite its reclassification as a dwarf planet in 2006, ongoing space exploration, notably the New Horizons mission, aims to unravel the mysteries surrounding Pluto's unique features, eccentric orbit, and fluctuating atmosphere.

If you close your channel I don't know how I'll ever go to sleep again
  • In 2006, 2024 & beyond Pluto will always be a planet and can never be demoted. It is the planet of transformation…Take flight!

It's fascinating to think that Pluto might have complex features like underground oceans or geysers. Discovering these could really change our understanding of the solar system :planet-orange-purple-ring:

New Horizons spacecraft was launched in January 2006, and flew by Pluto in July 2015 (and has already sent us all those gorgeous pics!!) So I estimate this video was created late 2006 or early 2007....about 17 years ago! Kind of dated.

The video is from 2008. It would be great to mention the small detail it is OUTDATED in its description.

Pluto will always be to me what it always has been - call it whatever you like, I reserve the right to disagree, with anyone 😊
  • If it has enough gravity to create a sphere that's enough to consider it a planet in my books
  • @jverbaan84
Pluto has an orbit around the sun, it has moons, enough to classify Pluto as a planet. A dwarf planet is still a planet!!

does gravity influence have to be a single concentrated mass or can it be distributed over space? i know distance an strength root mean squared rlationship. buuut?

Put some Respek when you mention Pluto's name

NASA should plan a mission too Ceres and the asteroid belt.

    I'm surprised you can't buy any " Pluto is Shrinking ! Save Pluto ! " , t-shirts.

Pluto, of course, is pronounced, 'Pludo'. IOW, the 't' is rounded off and loses its snap, or crust if you will, and becomes more of a bongo than a hi-hat.
