  • Kinda like comparing a sea level engine to a vacuum optimized engine. Ion engines (at least in their current state) work better in a vacuum, where they can build up speed for longer periods of time.

It's surprising to see the ion engine to be so weak in the lower atmosphere.
  • @HYPERNATE001
Even though the electric things need electricity it lasts longer cuz of the efficiency of the engine
  • Well, the Ion eng. just generates lift to 1 ton while the Valiant generates for 38'5. The Valiant is much powerful than the Ion as we all know, so as the Valiant is faster, it'll use the fuel faster. Anyways , the both rockets should get to the same distance, the Ion eng. just will take a loooooooong travel
  • While this is a 40 tons thrust versus 75 tons, the weight of all the ion engines will be enough to slow it down to somewhere between 20 or 35 to say the least.

If I may ask but as a sfs player were always finding ways to improve our rockets but how did you get the second engine and did you make it because I have Been finding ways to make my rockets better and last longer and if you built it can I see the how you made them?

    pretty cool keep it going:socialdist:
  • @ZekeyLOL
You have to consider the thrust and weight of the engine
  • @raistherais
Ion engines work better in space than they do in the atmosphere :)
  • @NachoTaco112
You should have done one with gravity and one with no gravity
