Two Year Restoration of a 1954 Quonset Building

Published 2012-12-28
We started with a 30ft by 50ft 1954 Quonset on our property about two years ago with the thought to make it usable again. This is the combination of photos and video to do that. We are currently starting another barn next to this one and we will show that more tradition pole barn building event soon.

Thank you for your video. I’m looking at a 80’x40’ 1950’s Quonset repair and upgrade. It is a lot of work for a fabulous design!
  • ive never seen one made out of wood before that was the coolest thing ive ever seen

nice work,I have a similar barn here on my farm in England but it has no internal framing, relying instead on the compressing curvature of the fibre cement roofing sheets. Are the horizontal rafters necessary for structure or just storage?
  • I have been trying to find roof metal that will bend. I have a Quonset like that but its 50x70. Fairly tall. So it does bend ok?
  • @seanmedic1
how did you get flat corrogated to bend the long ways
  • Where did you get the curved steel? I have a near identical building.

Can they at least survive 150 MPH wind?
