The Masai Mara is a world-famous national nature reserve in Kenya, Africa, and a wildlife paradise of unmatched scale and beauty. It is best known for its safaris and exceptionally high concentration of lion, leopard, elephant, African buffalo, and cheetah, all co-existing in an incredibly beautiful area in the Rift Valley Province. Wildlife conservationists flock here every year to witness events such as the great wildebeest migration. This wilderness park was named after the Maasai people who are the area's ancestral inhabitants.

This safari travel film shows our family adventure finding multiple prides of lions with their playful lion cub babies, the "Fast Five" group of five Cheetahs hunting together (or "Tano Bora" as they are locally known) with a surprising outcome, a leopard mother and her baby joyfully reuniting after days of separation, and mysterious elephants and zebras in the early morning fog of a sunrise game drive.

► Who are we, you ask?
Well, thanks for asking. We are Georg, Tara, Liv and Bodhi, a German-American family living in Colorado in the United States. We love traveling, visual storytelling and connecting with people and the planet. The word "Fernweh" in our channel name is German and translates to "the ache for distant places"; it summarizes our urge to travel and explore this bright blue dot we call home.

  • The filming is amazing, the picture of your daughter holding the hands of a Masai warrior is award-winning.
  • @george_kimani
Maan this is mind blowing... it's better than watching Nat Geo..
  • @kunalsingh_yt
UNESCO should declare this video as Masai Mara official documentary 😉👏🔥
  • @dennisfidha
I love how you teach your kids to interact with locals who look different than them, that's how you raise all rounded people who can blend in any culture without disrespecting anyone..
  • @JacquiMwangi
As a Kenyan, watching this has filled me with even more pride for my beautiful country. You captured great shots, fused them with emotive music and told a beautiful story, started by a little girl we can only imagine will grow into a smart and well versed young lady
  • @jonhartman968
That last scene with your young daughter walking hand in hand with the Masai Warrior was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderfully amazing experience for her!
  • I was brought up on Tarzan, Disappearing World, and Cowboy in Africa. I first went to Kenya in 1981 with the British Army and returned over 40 times since. I later married a Kenyan lady, our children were born there and have homes both in England and 3 properties in Kenya. An amazing country and people.
  • I came back to watch this film after a year just because of the cinematography. Who else loves the editing skills here?
  • @hk254lyt8
Kenya will always be in your daughter’s heart
  • We literally booked our kenya tour because of this piece of art :)
  • @user-kd3ow6nk8t
Best Safari video I have seen to-date and I have watched dozens of them. We are going to Kenya in 2025 🐘🦁
  • @ruek66
This is by far the highest quality content from Mara I’ve seen in a long, long time! Well freaking done.
  • I have the privilege to go to Kenya a few years back and it was the best and most unforgettable trip of my life! Undescribable!
  • @davidmbithi5413

  • I'm just sitting here in tears, in my apartment in New York, staring out into the room. I feel like I have to gather my thoughts before I try to articulate how I'm feeling after watching this film. This is the most beautiful video I've ever seen on YouTube. I'm so full of emotions after watching this, happy, curious, excited, relieved, and inspired. I just turned 30, I'm from Norway, but I have lived in New York for the last 10 years. I've traveled to 30 countries, and my dream is to continue exploring the world while telling beautiful stories like this! The society clock is telling us to have kids and settle down etc. I'm definitely not ready to settle down, but this video really gave me hope that you can continue traveling with kids! But until I'm ready for kids, I will continue watching your beautiful videos, and hopefully one day I find myself reliving one of your journeys ❤ X Camilla
  • Sat here with tears streaming down my face, how beautiful our earth is! I’m not good with words so cannot articulate what I’m feeling. But the music, scenery and animals along with the beautiful Masai people, how wonderful to live on this planet that we all call home ❤
  • We’re going to Kenya after watching this video! In the middle of a global pandemic we decided to do it because this was just mind blowing. Sat in silence for a while after it was over just absorbing it. First time commenting on a YouTube video and everything from the cinematography to the music to the narration was flawless. We’re fixing a date to watch the channel from start to end!
