I have a 1998 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic with 120,000 miles on it. It was built in the York plant....and it's still going strong

Is it just me or is the commentary completey unrelated to the section of the video it's played over?

I love how you say lets look at Harley in 2023 and you show twin cam engined bikes which went out of production in 2017, even still very neat to see how they make them
  • Harley Davidson engines are know for their power 😂😂😂 this guy cracks me up

The motor assembly plant tour in Milwaukee is cool. They still make parts for the older style motors and do rebuilds there.

It's right at this point that a customer should be able to specify a 131 rather than having to pay for - and ditch - a perfectly good engine.

In 45 years of riding I've owned many motorcycles from many different manufacturers but there is something special about a Harley. It's U.S. motorcycle history.
  • I've been to the York Plant several times when they had their open house. It's great to talk to the workers who take pride in their work. It is special to me because my Street Glide Special was made there.

For being a new video, this is old. Kansas City plant was shut down in 2019. It's pieced together old videos, they talk about bike assembly they show engine assembly.

The Kansas City plant mentioned here that made Sportsters was closed down and sold about 5 years ago.
  • It's nice to see Americans actually building this so called American made bikes. Maybe Harley will remember its base and who built them.

I love the commentary talking about highly skilled workers while the image displays a robot working.

Strange video. The footage shown at the start was then shown again, then after that the narration wasn’t fitting in with what we were seeing. Also bikes like the Dyna aren’t made anymore
  • Riding, motor cycle life~ 🌞 If you raise your hand, 👋, it's even more nice to meet you. It's safer. It's more honest. Always be happy with you.👏👏
  • Its about damn time! Glad to hear you're back and the garage looks great! Being in the oil industry, im away from my family a lot and your content helps my mental health in the evenings. Excited to see what the year brings!

In the early 80's when Harley was struggling financially, they were trying to reinvent themselves and find better way of manufacturing. Harley asked Honda, who had been manufacturing motorcycles for several year in Marysville, Ohio if they could visit and observe Honda's motorcycle manufacturing process. Harley engineers were very impressed with the Honda processes and went back and reinvented their manufacturing processes. One of the technical magazines published an article about Harley's Jelley Bean production method. From that article you tell Honda had helped the in many ways. I was proud to see how much Honda had helped a competitor.

I worked harley york in82,83. Was laid off with 399 others. I worked in the old building. Used to be an armament factory. I ran screw machines which is what they made the shell casing on. My son worked there too. He is a foundation driller now
