  • It's not just the carbine. I heard a S&W rep at the SHOT show call the 1854 44 mag a ā€œthrow back to our heritageā€. Iā€™m a 10mm guy since about 1990. Super excited with the S&W M&P 10ā€¦ bought two. Both jammed regularly, (failure to feed), The magazine fell out the bottom while shooting in both, and on one the supplied plastic optics plate cracked, the screws sheered, and my RMR flew backwards over my head. I sent them back to S&W twice. Failure to feeds continued after receiving them back each time. Called a third time and was transferred to a girl who sounded quite young. She interrupted me, talked over me, and told me that my request that S&W exchange my pistols wasnā€™t going to happen since the issues were fixable. And she said that I ā€œshould shoot better quality ammoā€. I guess higher quality than the Federal, Fiocci, Mag Tech, Sig, and Hornady that I had written them about failing, and that I spent a fortune on testing their guns. I filed a BBB complaint but through mediation had no confidence in S&Wā€™s offer to ā€œservice my gunsā€, (for the third time). I wonder if engineering a defective product and then having an arrogant and entitled sounding young lady dismiss your victims is also a throwback to S&Wā€™s heritage; or perhaps rather, they are turning over in their graves.

turns out I'm glad they didn't release a 10mm PCC just yet, after all...
  • They need to have it made where if its out of battery it doesn't fire . And it should be quality first not mass production on all firearms.

I have owned the S&W 9MM Response for about a week before the safety "alert" came out. Shot about 50 rounds through it with no issues. But I just sent it back to S&W on 2/23/2024 and we will see what happens.

Love my S&W's, including my FPC. Never leave my house without my Shield, either 9 or 40. I will not turn my back on one of our American gun manufacturers. I'm disgusted by some of the comments here.

I was literally ready with cash in hand last week to buy this. Iā€™m glad I heard about this hours before I went out shopping the next day.

Iā€™m glad Iā€™ve got a KelTec lol šŸ˜‚ had a blast plinking with it yesterday unbelievable how accurate it is.

šŸ¤˜ šŸ˜ šŸ¤˜ Turkey, spreading the good info!
  • I sent mine back just under 2 months ago and haven't received it back yet. When I call they are zero help letting me know when it will be repaired. Definitely the last S&W I will buy
  • Every gun design has had problems and takes time to fix, so they should keep designing new guns
  • @pwrshots
I have the M&P FPC Series. going to call them to see if it is affected. haven't had any issues. thanks for the heads up. I don't see any mention of the carbine recall on their site.

Put several hundred rounds through mine with no problems. I think the issue is if the bolt face isn't cleaned it could prevent the bolt from seating against the barrel. Sent mine off last Tuesday.
  • "Mrgunsngear" was test firing his Response for a gun review and had an out-of-battery discharge which is on video. Some specks of "shrapnel" hit his face. The Response, of course, failed his review. He sent his Response to S&W and has had discussions with them. His video is still on YT, and I recommend watching it. I was strongly considering the Response, and his video ruled that out!
