In 2017, Millie Bobby Brown began to be trolled on Twitter and became the face of a bigoted meme, that she had no affiliation with whatsoever. From fake stories to false quotes, the trolls created the hashtag TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown, to push a fake narrative about 13 year old Millie, that contrasted with her positive social media presence. The constant stream of online memes resulted in Millie deactivating her Twitter account.

The meme should have been created around a fictional character. The concept of it is hilarious but the way it’s harassing a child is beyond fucked up
  • @ATRAXXUSA
“Because she ripped it off” is taking me tf out 😭😭😭
  • @weird_mango42
THE PICTURE OF MEGAN TRAINOR WEARING A HIJAB HELPPP 😭
  • @jessep9929

I hate how people try to excuse bullying as “dark humor”
  • @sillygoose42069
“This is going on my resume” making a 14 year old girl quit twitter because of endless bulling? I wouldn’t hire you…
  • @sporker5483
Being concerned about if a gay person made the meme bc it's using slurs rather than focusing on the relentless defaming of a child is a top tier twitter moment
  • @Paradox586
That’s not just trolling. This is straight up defamation
  • @nickoffury
“you don’t have a hijab in your pfp” “she ripped it off” hahahahahahahahaha
  • @strange.person
I love how stan twitter people act as if they're morally superior than anyone and then proceed to straight up bullying anyone who they don't like and call that "humor".
  • @Daraxyn
The fact that people say that “It’s just dark humour” or “it’s just a joke” is disgusting… You don’t target a specific person that did nothing wrong, people should draw the line sometimes and think of how they would feel if the same happened to them…
  • 'I don't think gatekeeping who can and can't bully a 13-year-old is a hill that I personally would choose to die on.' what a great quote
  • @LegalVampire
People who troll like this are so cringe 🤢 Imagine bullying a 13 year old girl off Twitter and seeing that as an "accomplishment". Get a lifeeeee
  • @mandymckk
If these people are so passionate about “dark humor” they can put their own faces next to these homophobic statements instead of a literal child’s ☺️
  • the way they treated this girl is actually absurd. she was barely a teenager. she really is a strong woman.
  • Love how the 13 year old actted more mature than the adults bullying said 13 year old 💀
  • I always felt so awful for Millie, she’s literally a child and has always been so positive. It’s awful.

millie was a victim of the cycle of popularity. she blows up out of nowhere, everyone loves her…then suddenly everywhere i look she’s being made fun of. I remember there was a video called “millie bobby brown is annoying” and it had like 4m+ views. literally just clips of her at the age of 13-14 occasionally talking over people (as if we all haven’t done that before?) I think the video has been taken down but like how can you justify bullying a young girl just because she was acting like a young girl? just for entertainment? after the Twitter memes and mass hate she started to seem more subdued in interviews. I think it’s really sad because everybody used to love her personality and then suddenly everyone turned on her. always cool to hate the popular thing I guess. glad to see more people defending her.

i think the reason why people kept pressing on the homophobia is because she ACCIDENTALLY said the d-slur while making a ship name for Dustin and Mike (Stranger Things)
