What is the Ohio fight over 'foreign campaign donations' really all about?

Six little words -- that's how Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine showed he is also buying into the questionable claim that millions in foreign money is pouring into Ohio campaigns for statewide ballot issues.

A proposed ban on such foreign contributions has become a bargaining chip by Republicans who dominate the legislature; it's their price tag for making a minor law change guaranteeing President Joe Biden appears on Ohio's November ballot.

DeWine called the legislature into emergency session starting Tuesday to address the Biden ballot stalemate -- which essentially means consideration of the foreign contributions issue as well.

It is important to note that such donations to candidates already are illegal
