  • I was literally cooking a recipe based on one of chef's about ten minutes ago, and watching along with a video. I've been a professional in the industry for 20 years, and your father taught me more indirectly than anyone I actually worked with, and changed the way I think in the kitchen. Easily the most underrated and most knowledgeable youtube chef ever, and I think his influence extends far beyond one anyone could imagine. My condolences go to you Max, and thanks go to Chef Greg Easter for volumes of incredible knowledge and a poignant sense of humor to boot.

My deepest condolences Greg, your father was an incredible chef, may he rest in peace
  • I don't know what to say, except I'm devastated. I still consider Greg the single most astonishing and informative cooking voice in all of YouTube. I've loved all his books. I learned so much, and it was always such a treat to see something by him! Be strong, hang in there, and everyone else? Let's all aspire to be the kind of cook Greg was.
  • This man lived life to the max.. Hard work, education (got a phd in freaking chemistry at UCLA), was a successful software developer, cooked classic dishes in countless restaurants. No world cuisine was out of his reach. Gave generously of his knowledge here on youtube. Yeah, it seemed he burnt the candle at both ends. It had to end sometime. When I showed this to my wife, she said "we just made his pizza sauce the other day." He changed our lives. I will miss him dearly.

My condolences Max. I have been following this channel for many years. Your father has left an indelible legacy. One of the best and highly underrated cooking channels on this platform. He was one of the first cooking youtubers that I remember who really went into depth about technique. That gnocchi recipe is one that always sticks out. I've learnt alot from your father. May he be resting peacefully. Stay strong Max or as we say here in New Zealand, Kia Kaha.

May he rest in peace. I really admired Greg, and I'm glad he shared his experience with all of us. I know he definitely made me a much more knowledgeable person and a damn good cook.

Your pops got me through culinary school and into a career because of his channel You had a great dad.
  • @SteveWrightNZ
Very sorry to hear. We loved listening to your Dad mumble and chuckle away while he was cooking, he seems a lovely fella. We learned a lot from him, most important lesson was that "you're always cooking for a king", and to take your time and do a good job. All the best improving your own situation - no one is going to do this except you, and you must start today and not give up.
  • I want to dedicate this album to the late Greg Easter. He passed away in September of 2022. He was 76 years old. He was a culinary legend & an absolute genius when it came to applying organic chemistry techniques in his cooking. Since he studied chemistry at UCLA. He was the very reason why I became the young chef at 26 years who aspires food chemistry as well in the future. He was my absolute idol when it came to cooking on a high end level. His books have culinary secrets never before seen anywhere. His biography is a real treat to read. Since he has been all around the world & has always had a true fighters attitude in life. He started cooking in childhood & has achieved what other chefs only dream of. He was the most sweet, humble & gentle soul I've ever had the privilege of chatting with. If it werent for the closing of his restaurant Lava in Finland, I would have had an actual chance of eating his food & meeting him. I would have loved to hug him & tell him how much he means to be not only as a chef but only how to apply a give it all attitude in life whatever I would persue. As I'm writing this I'm on the verge of bursting out into a fountain of a waterfall. Bucketheads music is like a canvas to express your emotions on. This album hits especially hard now, since he was the father of a young boy named Max. Who is now completely alone his since mother & sister have passed as well previously. What must this poor boy go through right now who I believe is only in his early 20s. In encourage anyone who is interested in the craft of cooking to check out "CookingInFinland" it was his masterful channel. A true sea of never before seen cooking methods & philosophies. On there you could also reach out to Max via email and gave him your blessings. Or donate some cherit to him. But I'm sure Finland suports him financially as well. It's strange how you can miss someone and be affected by the passing of a man whom you have never met? I love to cook his recipes for loved ones & let them in on a new flavor spectrum they have never tasted before. Just like music, cooking is uniting us and makes us cherish our loved ones and share beautiful experiences with them. Greg Easter has revolutionized the cuisine once again. He will always be an essential personality in the world of gastronomy. A once in a lifetime real character with depth & a great outlook on life. I could write into dawn of how much I loved Greg Easter and his beautiful online cooking project. But I'd like to let Buckethead express what I simply cannot do with words of what Greg meant to me. He will always be my youtube cooking mentor. Take it away Buckethead with your last song. Fly high sweet gentle soul ! I'm raising my glass to you Greg Rest In Peace
  • Still checking in from time to time hoping for a miracle that Greg suddenly uploads an update 😢

So sorry for your loss! Your dad inspired me so much to be a better cook. Loving his books also. I'll keep the subscription alive.
  • @nathanhaines1721
He was absolutely amazing. Books on Amazon were crazy cheap and contained pure gold.
  • @b.f.6254
My deepest condolences. I shall miss his deep sonorous voice and his subtle jokes. Unlike many other professionals, your father really explained what he was doing. What size, why that size, how hot (not some vague 'medium high heat' but turn the stove to position 6, 5 or 2), what to look for in a sauce, colour, thickness...step by step, minute by minute, now do this and then add that...the details that separate a high end experience from a nice meal. I still remember his recipe for classic french onion soup...even the way he cut the onions and why. Your dad was a true genius in the way he explained how to copy Michelin classics by showing the techniques and principles of 'their' cooking.

For anyone interested, there is a subreddit dedicated to Greg to share anything related to him and cooking. /r/ChefGregEaster/
  • Thanks for reaching out, Max. I will keep my Membership Subscription going and have recently repurchased all your father's books as gifts.. I hope you can access the money to get you through the difficult times. We all loved your dad's videos and miss him!
  • @jd5787
I am really sorry for your loss. Your dad always made cool videos. Both educational and entertaining. I really loved all of them. Please accept my sincere condolences. Wishing you and your family well in these challenging times.
  • @husmenusta
Im so devastated to hear the news. Chef was brilliant and super kind. He answered all of my stupid questions with patience and kindness. Terrible loss for the world. If it’s not too rude to ask how did he passed away? So terribly sorry for your loss
  • @fimeilleur
I am saddened by this news. I first started watching your dad's channel when I lived in Moscow. We've had many conversations in those days, and I always found him to be insightful and extremely reasonable. I am truly sorry for your loss and I will miss his uncanny ability to make my mouth water.
  • Sorry for your loss. I think I'm speaking for most of us when I say your dad didn't just teach us recipes. His selfless work went beyond that, at a technical level helping us develop solid foundational skills, but also in a much deeper way elevating our cooking and letting us experience special moments with people we love. My condolences Max. Stay strong and proud of him.
  • @silvarius2000
