  • So, I didn't realize that the lid would fit inside of that little slot. I think I'm most excited about that :-)

I have a tip! I have discovered using mushrooms as a base for cooking poultry, enabling me to get away without adding any liquid. I build my mushroom base and place my protein on top. It takes longer to come to pressure because the mushrooms have to release their liquid first, but the results have been fantastic using a whole chicken, or chicken thighs. The meat ends up cooking in it's own juices and mushroom juice. I puree the cooking liquid and mushrooms after cooking and use it as a sauce/puree' over the chicken, potatoes/rice or pasta. Intense mushroomy flavor infused with chicken flavor! (and onions...) I haven't tried it on beef or pork yet but am going to. . If anyone's interested I will share my technique :)

And you know we’ve had our instant pot for probably 6 months and we did not know you could do that with the lid. Thanks for all the info and help!

I purchased my Instant Pot 6qt two weeks ago and I'm hooked ! I just made babyback ribs the other night. Thirty minutes under pressure then remove and sauce. Out to the grill for a quick sear to crisp up and then sat down for yummy, smack yo mama ribs ;) Thanks for the tips ! P.S. - I dry rubbed the ribs after removing the membrane then used 1 cup of apple juice and a teaspoon of liquid smoke for the cook 👍
  • wow, I did not know about the 0 minutes then either! I do have a couple of tips for cleaning. if you cook something with a lot of garlic or other strong flavor, the way I like to clean is 2 put a cup or two of water and two or three tablespoons of vinegar into the pot and run it through and you're pressure for 2 minutes. It's a lot like that test starter that we all did when we first got our spot. That sanitizes and cleans and tends to take away the Aromas of the strong food. My next trip is for the ring. The Ring does not smell if you take it out and soak it in a bowl of water with a little vinegar for a while. I have not ever had trouble with smells transfer and no matter if I leave the lid on or whatever. I'm sure I will do the video on this because you've inspired me in that way but I thought I would share!
  • @LeoUfimtsev
Very helpful. I haven't thought of pre-heating. Have started doing it since you mentioned it. Thank you for sharing.
  • I bought my instant pot about 2 months ago and had never learned to use the pressure cooker feature. I tried it once and failed and shoved the evil thing back on the counter, flipped it off and walked away. This morning I was determined to cook a corned beef roast in it and walla, after watching a few videos my roast is cooking and smells delicious. Any and all tips are helpful to us old farts who are terrified of new fangled contraptions. I appreciate it and thank you soo much.
  • I have had my pot for about a year. Wasn't going to watch your video thinking I knew everything I needed to know...I was wrong, every one of your tips is helpful! Well done and short, interesting and to the point. Thank you!
  • @SolenaRift
I've had my instant pot for a year. I didn't know about the zero minutes setting. Thank you. I absolutely love cooking with my pot, and everything is always delicious.
  • @fathima5209
Got my IP just a few days back by post. And whilst I'm now a woman in love I must say the manual that comes with it sucks! Hardly any info and very unclear to say the least That said videos like this rock! So much information and clarity. Thanks a million. And yes please do keep sharing your knowledge.
  • @rolom3

  • @EstrafaDC
WOW!! Those were fantastic!! Thanks so much. Just got an instant pot a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it, but a few of these tips really answered some questions I had.
  • @maggieboyle7782
Thanks Nili. I am a new user (had it a bit but broke both bone in my arm so I couldn't cook). I am really excited now after watching several of your videos. I love your clear, tell it like it is way of showing us how to use this. Your tips on accessories really helped me (not my credit card) as well as these tips. I am heading out to the grocery store so I can get cooking!
  • Thank you for these tips I am a newcomer to instant pot and look forward to more fun and insightful recipes from you
  • @mopar3502001

  • @samantham2157
I haven't even used my Instant Pot yet, but I love the tip to start saute mode as soon as you bring it out!
  • Great tips. My favorite new tool is the steamer basket. Holds all your veggies or what nots and then lifts them all out in one shot.
