Child stars are adorable when they are on the big and small screen pulling on our heartstrings with their innocence and purity. But they eventually do grow up, and when they’ve grown out of their cuteness and the limelight doesn’t shine on them anymore, it can be bad news for them.

There has been a long list of former child stars who haven’t figured out how to maneuver through adulthood when the attention isn’t on them anymore. It has unfortunately led to some of them hitting rock bottom and going off the deep end. So, we’ve created a video that lists former child stars who have gone off the deep end over the years.

All of the actors on the list are so talented! I blame Hollywood and their managers/parents the most. It's sad that the laws aren't stricter for young people in the business.
  • @ashleigh9659
None of these parents should get to use any of their kids money
  • I never judge these former child stars. Think about it, when SO MANY child stars grow up to lead a troubled life you start to wonder what’s being done to these kids behind the scenes. Hollywood is cruel and has a known history of child trafficking and abuse. I only wish the very best for these people and that they come to lead peaceful happy lives.
  • how can an industry that secretly abuses child stars, play judge, jury & executioner when it comes to who should be included in a reboot?
  • @annabella2528
I have to stop watching almost immediately! Corey Feldman was sexually abused as a child actor by the adults who were supposed to take care of him. You're absolutely terrible people for saying he went off the deep end.

putting your kids in that type of environment is a recipe for outlandish behavior. it’s not normal to be famous as a child, especially when it wasn’t your choice to become famous.

I really don’t like the title of this. It’s just stigmatizes mental health and substance abuse issues.

After Full House ended Jodie Sweetin was probably lost and didn't know what to do. She started the show when she was 5 years old and it ended when she was 13.

So awful how Hollywood chewed these young stars up, and spit them out. Some of their Parents weren’t any better. I get compliments on my Daughter all the time and the 1 thing I hear is: “You should put her in modeling!” Or: “She has the personality to be an Actor!” ABSOLUTELY NOT! Between the many child stars who were preyed upon and molested by Industry Execs and worse, I’d NEVER do my baby that disservice. From Shirley Temple to Judy Garland and all who’ve come after them, the Industry is a wicked machine that does more harm and physiological damage on these children and their developing brains, than good. We’re all watching this case and point!

Brad Renfro’s story is always the saddest and they left a lot out. He was living in a trailer park with his grandma when he was discovered for the movie the Client. He had no supervision in Hollywood and his first acting job was as the lead character so he became big fast. They picked him because they were looking for a tough kid who had already been through a lot and could relate to the character. "I wanted a kid who understood in the marrow of his psyche what it was like to grow up too soon," Schumacher later told The New York Times. They took a kid already damaged by life and thrust him into the spotlight.

Instead of calling this video "people who go off the deep end", why not call it what it is and say people who've struggled with substance and mental health issues. Let's not make them out to be weirdos and freaks when these struggles are legit and sometimes cost them their lives.

No one turned out okay on Different Strokes? Todd Bridges is still alive and cleaned up his act. And he turned out to be a good father. I'd say that's a good way to turn life around.

Why did I bother. I should know that u only care about the scandal, not the shit a lot of these child stars went thru at the hands of sick adults.
  • I thought Amanda Byrnes could have been the next Carol Burnett. She was pretty, but in her skits, could make herself silly looking. Hope she’s better!

Childhood stars go through so much, but Hollywood doesn't care. In some cases the parents are to blame because they push them to act, not knowing the psychological damage it puts them through.
  • @p.rivera9881
Staying on the low has really helped Lindsay, I hope she stays like that.
  • @tranlee8752
This is more so what happens when you don't care enough about your kids or friends enough to safeguard them from themselves. There are plenty of ways to protect your loved ones. A lot of them are unorthodox, but I'd rather have you be momentarily mad at me or hate me and have you live a full, healthy life with a true chance at happiness than to die or deal with addiction issues.

I'm so tired of the "troubled child star" narrative. For one, why are grown adults still being referred to as "child stars?" Especially since they still have careers as adults. Also, why is it that when a person gets into trouble, it's always correlated to their being a child actor? Shia LaBeouf getting arrested at age 28 had nothing to do with being on Even Stevens when he was 12. We give these people more importance than is needed and hold them to completely different standards. Lindsay Lohan does something dumb, everyone talks about it and calls her a toubled child star. A regular kid does something stupid, their just being a teen. I don't get it.

It’s so sad how some of the greatest actors/actresses have struggled with mental illness and/or addiction. As someone who’s been sober for a little over 12yrs, and struggle with depression and anxiety, I know it’s not easy. But it’s gotta be even harder for them, with all the pressure they have on them...including from their family. It’s not a question of why, but why not. All the stress they have being the money makers of their family, having to keep a persona going, doing jobs they may not want to do, of course they are going to find something to escape it all. Hopefully they can all find a healthier way to deal with everything and major props to those who have already. ❤️
