If I’m using flex seal to stop a roof leak it’s because I can’t afford to call a roofing company and I assure you that the way the repair looks is the last thing on my mind
-
I used flex seal on my roof and it hasn’t leaked in over 4 years. Flex seal is good in my opinion.
-
It's obvious what they're trying to do by bashing these DIY alternatives. Job security. He's obviously an expert AND a sales person. This video convinced me to go with Flex Seal. If youre going to bash a product you gotta AT LEAST do a comparison of your way vs Flex seal and run it through a test.

If I was missing a shingle, I would use the replacement method recommended by Dimitri. But I have an imperceptible leak on an almost-flat roof with skylights. I used Flex Seal around where I suspected the leak to be and it held up for four years. The leak was caused by a crappy job the contractor did; I had more leaks AFTER he finished. His attempts at repairs were both hilarious and infuriating. If I could find a good, honest contractor, I would hire him - as I’m 71 years old and not quite as nimble as I used to be. But for now Flex Seal is my go-to for a small leak.
-
Lol Flexseal works great for these exact uses not everyone wants to call a contractor for a tiny leak for insurance for a single small issue and this stuff works amazing especially if you get the color that matches your roof or clear it works amazing for small leaks which is exactly what it is designed to do. This guy doesn’t want you to use it because he wants you to call him.

If contractors want people to call them, they should lower their prices. I paid $500 for a guy to come out and put tar on my roof. The first rain it leaked. I had to get ugly to get a full refund. I went through Angie. They wanted to give me a $50 credit. I did get a refund after I went all the way off. I can put my own tar on for cost of supplies thank you. I don't trust any of them.
-
I'd rather use a $10 can of Flex Seal than to call a roofing company to replace a few shingles.
-
My mom had roof leaks in her double wide so I put 9 gallons on that roof and it is watertight 2 years and going thank you flex seal for saving us from contractors aesthetic opinions and pocket gouging 👍
-
It really works for the small stuff.
-
Flex seal is holding on my flashing far longer than the whatever it is the multiple roofing contractors put on there. All of their repairs have leaked. My Lowe's flex seal special hasn't yet. Knock on wood. (Roofing contractor damaged the crap out of my chimney and flashing)
-
I used flex seal over 2 years ago on my damaged black shingles. Can even see where I sprayed it and I have had No Leaks!!
-
Flex seal has worked great for me for small leak problems and doesn’t look bad. I’ve never needed a roof contractor. DIY.
-
I live in a mobile home with sheet metal roof. I had one puncture. I sealed puncture with good adhesive caulk and did a thick 3 step spray of flex seal. I sealed over entire roof after. It's holding 10 years and counting 😂😂😂
-
This isn't a good reason not to use sealant. I don't understand what roof needs to breathe means. How does blocking one shingle with sealant stop "breathing"?
-
Many people do this because contractors want a insane amount of money to fix the roof. My neighbor had 18 bundles of shingles to be installed cost of material 708.00 labor 3,000 that's only to cover the existing shingles no other work. INSANE!
-
Why can't home owners slap on a new shingle after flex seal it? Would it work better? Hate to call a roofer for a small damage, 1, they probably don't want to come for a small job, 2. Roofer has to charge you a lot for that small patch to worth the trip.
-
Flex seal works but its' just a temporary fix until the job is done correctly.
-
Flexseal is great, don't get rob by contractors
-
And there are videos on utube on using flexseal with no issues for years . If it works , use it . A friend if mine used it on his rv roof 4 years ago , still no more leaks .
