This old Mercedes "Ponton" 190 has been sitting for MANY years. Is it savable? Will it run? Do German cars hold up to neglect as well as we've seen old American cars do? All that and more in this video.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR WATCHING!

  • Follow up on this video https://youtu.be/uy9uywYY6Tc Saw a lot of comments about it being shame to scrap a car with all the good parts on it. They're only good if people need them and are willing to buy them. I listed this car is the parts car before even picking it up. If you're interested in something, shoot me an offer. Would be great to see somebody use the glass or other usable items

Reasons people watch your vlogs. 1) you’re genuinely nice people or amazing actors 2) you know your stuff 3) you find interesting vehicles 4) you obviously love each other and are a great match . I wish you all the best in life. Cheers from Toronto

This isn't something I often see people commenting on in your videos: you have such a natural talent for compelling visual storytelling. You could remove the audio from most of your videos and they would still be captivating and make complete sense. It's little moments like the shot at 19:40, where you clearly took the time to set up a camera just for a shot of you looking at a bag, that show how acutely you understand the power of visual intrigue. I think this is a huge part of why your vlogs are so successful and will continue to be. You share with us your organic everyday experiences but go the extra mile to make them feel like more than just everyday videos. Thank you so much for all that you do here. Your videos warm my heart.
  • First 3 minutes and you have done more problem solving than some folks do in their life !! Love it.

Amazed to hear that MB idle after sitting for almost 5 decades Poster child for “they don’t build them like they used to” Hope it finds a good home and lives on for years to come

You cannot even compare your channel to the Whistlin Diesel guy, you respect cars and try to save them. Not in a carshow display condition, but at least functional, reliable and running, your passion is shinning through your videos, and so are your skills and mindset. I think we all admire that, not to mention you bring us all in cool adventures. I think we all can tell by now you're just genuine, and with or without camera, that would be the same lifestyle, cause you get the thrill from it. The Whistlin Diesel guy is the typical young rich kid, who had everything in his life, and has no particular skills but spending his money in stupid ways, faking some publicity stunts and destroying things the average joe could never buy in one life, for fun, and for an absurd amount of view and money, in the way selling merchandising to his community, which is probably pretty young. He's just this kind of talentless, views grinding youtuber, almost a Logan Paul for automobiles. Best thing is to ignore him anyway, I suspect nobody liking NNKH would appreciate the guy's "work".
  • @denjhill
I'm with you. Whistlen Diesel is an obnoxious punk with too much money. Quit watching a year ago.
  • @jaimeortega4940
Smart move because the engine sounded surprisingly good for its age!
  • @cseivard
Sorry if I have said this before, iam a stroke survivor. (Lived). Your adventures give me hope. Thanks.
  • @NohoNE83
That aluminum hood and especially that front grill might have been worth something….
  • I'm a amateur woodworker and antique tool fan. I am so glad that you appreciated the value of that bandsaw and were able to save it!
  • Chris ,Just keep doing what your doing , there's only one person you have to please and that's you ,with better than a half a million subscribers your doing something we like keep doing it .
  • @daleestep9518
There should be two little metal tabs on each side of the hood hinges where you can put that hood straight up in the air
  • I enjoy how you approach each job and you don’t waste very many steps, like mowing where the tow pig was after you moved it. Tech’s like you are very rare. You are gifted with the rare common sense element. Not seen much today.
  • I wouldn't have any idea how to get that old Merc out of there. Your can do attitude is amazing!
  • Chris, as an MGB enthusiast. If you can get the hood and luggage rack off that car, thry are desirable. Not huge money, but certainly enough to be worth your while.
  • @rainmanloading
I know nothing about cars, but this is by far my favorite channel, keep it up Chris!
  • @johngrant7616
Another great will it run! Never expected that to fire up so quick, nicely done. You definitely made the right choice scapping the entire car as is, everyone will tell you how valuable this or that part is, and yet no one buys it. I sat with two cars worth of 115/114 parts for several years, including all glass, and no takers even free. Ended up scrapping most in the end. You just sped up the process.
  • @andrewb2475
I would have saved ALL the glass, the door handles, window winders, headlights..... basically anything that could help an enthusiast rebuild a classic.................there's NO way someone could find those windows, to the right customer they'd be worth a fortune!
  • @rhyswoodman6781
Im right there with you Chris. These are my favourite types of videos you do. Saving the old stuff even if its just some parts. Good to see something different too. Keep it up man.
