He's in his 40s here but has the face of a 20 year old, and still does. Bizarre

Jarmusch came from a world of mad New York; many of his music acting painting peers became unknown, or died from heroin ODs. Jarmusch had incredible aim with his career, always focused on his stories. Great filmmaker.
  • I hate in interviews when the interviewer doesn't really follow up on any of the guest's answers. Just straight to the next unrelated question.

Interview with a genius. Jarmusch has a unique vision that makes his observations of the most banal aspects of life make us see life in new ways.
This film, Dead Man, explores the journey of a milquetoast junior accountant into the mystery and mysticism of the early West, and his transformation. Johnny Depp is at his very best and the Neil Young soundtrack adds a rock 'n roll vibe, which for some reason fits the film perfectly.
The supporting actors are brilliant. The B/W cinematography is breathtaking. What more could you ask for?
This film will withstand many viewings, and the viewer will discover new details with each. And typical for Jarmusch, there's an undercurrent of humor running through it that keeps the film from taking itself too seriously.
After renting it a couple of times I broke down and bought it. I cannot find anything wrong with this film.

Dead Man is my favorite film. It's so steeped with symbolism I notice new things with every viewing. I would love to see Jim and Johnny work together again some day.

Never saw an interview of Jim before, this guy really knows what he's doing.
  • "It's not full of power cuts and plot tension." Exactly! That's what makes it so good.
