From Financial Struggles to Hope: Our Journey with Shirley’s Recovery and Your Support

Published 2024-05-23
Hey everyone,

I wanted to give you an update on what's been happening lately. As many of you know, we've been facing some financial challenges. We've had demands for rent and council tax, which has been quite overwhelming. Strangely enough, amidst all this, I received a credit card offer – very weird timing, right?

But let’s shift focus to some positive news! Shirley's left arm is making great progress. She's been doing some fantastic exercises, like imagining picking cherries from a tree, which really seems to help. Our physio man is coming soon to continue this good work.

Financially, it's been tough, and we need to get some bills sorted out online – something I’ve been putting off to avoid causing stress. We're still waiting on some backdated payments from GWP, which will hopefully get us back on our feet.

To help us during this time, I've launched a Patreon channel. If you’d like to support us, you can sign up: www.patreon.com/ThrivewithGary – there’s a lot of content available for free, and more is coming soon. A big thank you to Nick, who recently filled up our petrol tank – it’s little acts of kindness like this that make a huge difference.

Today, I even managed to take Shirley out for coffee thanks to your support! We're also working on long-term goals like setting up a life coaching service online and helping Shirley possibly lead chair yoga sessions in the future.

Recently, I posted an article on dealing with overwhelm:    / @thrivewithgary   It’s been crucial for us, especially since Shirley often gets overwhelmed and needs a lot of support. Mindfulness and breathing exercises have been our main tools for coping with stress and staying in the moment.

Your support means the world to us. If you can, please consider joining our Patreon. Any contribution helps us manage these challenging times. Leave your comments below with any tips or advice – we appreciate all your help and support.

Thank you for being here with us. Stay tuned for more updates!

Cheers,
Gary and Shirley

  • Council tax - look into discounts/exemptions and section 13a 🤗 The latter was well covered by Andy Gabby Cabby. Council should have told yous about these from the outset (when they sent demand) but they tend not to
