Fishing New Water | Trout Fishing Colorado

Published 2024-05-23
Fishing new water can be difficult, and I sure proved it! I took a day to head to the high country and fish, but the lake I planned on going to was not open. Still, the nearby river was irresistible. I popped in even before I knew the lake was closed. The water was just a little stained, which I thought might get the fish biting. I managed to catch a nice one, but that water is super cold, and the fish I caught almost seemed lethargic. I'm guessing optimal fishing has yet to come at that elevation. I headed to the lake to find the gate closed, so I headed back to the river and did some exploring. I found a lot of holes where fish should be stacked, but I didn't get much interest. I'm guessing it has to do with fishing pressure and that cold water. Let me know your thoughts below.

I hope you enjoy! The gear I use is listed below. Thanks for watching! Please hit that like button, comment, and/or subscribe to help promote the video and the channel!

Too bad about the lake, but catching something in both spots you tried is a win-win. Beautiful scenery as always and not surprised the water is so cold with the snow in the background. Great job Ryan and thanks for sharing!

Nice outing on some gorgeous looking spots. A tiny 2nd one , but not skunked! Too bad about the gate. Maybe next time!
  • @reelfeelfishing
Nice couple of catches Ryan! Trying new waters paid off. Bummer the road was closed to the lake.
  • Great job getting out and catching a few. Hopefully you can get to the lake next time. We need some of that cold water over here in Pennsylvania. Creeks have really warmed up here lately, makes trout fishing tough
  • @Midwesthookset
