Movario plays a central role in the While Guthix Sleeps quest (and ritual of the mahjarrat there after) on RS3. He was added with the dorgesh-kaan release as an early teaser for WGS back in 2007. The quest released about 1.5 years after he was added.

Fun fact about the hemenster arrowtip chest: there's a Kandarin diary task to steal from it, but you can also complete this task by stealing from the arrowtip chests in Relekka or the mourner tunnels under Ardy, because they all share the same Object ID.

As you mentioned in the video, the Chaos Druid tower was added with Thieving back in classic, and you're right that back then runes were especially hard to come by. Thieving was at the time one of the best ways in the game to get often sought after runes, and Ardougne especially was ripe with opportunities for this sort of crime. You can get a ton of chaos runes by pickpocketting paladins, which with the Chaos Gauntlets became one of the most cost effective ways deal magic damage in combat. There are also a couple chests with nature runes in them, which were also highly sought after for alching. Blood runes especially were among the hardest to get in the game, and were needed to cast the god spells, which were the best in the game, especially used for pvp. Thieving that chest under the Chaos Druid Tower was one of the best ways to farm blood runes, even with it teleporting you away every trip (assuming you had the thieving level for it). Very few monsters dropped blood runes, and those that did dropped them very rarely and only one at a time. The only monster with a decent drop rate for blood runes was the KBD, and that required very high combat stats to farm effectively. This scarcity of runes is why the introduction of Runecraft in RS2 was such a big deal, and also why it was such a pain to train. Compared to existing methods at the time, it was a dramatically faster source of runes. It just so happens that it was eventually surpassed by drops from Slayer and other monsters to the point where you no longer need to do any Runecraft to have all the runes you could ever need just from drops alone.

That 71 agility shortcut to the ogre chief is really great for a particular clue step.

The molly thing is kind of a leftover from how randoms used to work. If you ignored the sandwich lady (she sadly never brought stale baguettes), she would teleport you away. A few did the teleporting, others like mr Jekyll would attack you.

lol as an old rs player, the chest under the chaos druid tower used to be known as "the blood rune chest" it was one of the only reliable ways to get blood runes back in the day
  • @XNiness
Those chaos druid tower chests actually came in handy for me! I started a chunkman in the farm north of ardy, that tower was my home for a good few months!

Funny you should mention the Temple of Ikov trapdoor. A small OSRS YouTuber I watch called Valiance is a new player doing quests blind, and just a few hours ago he uploaded his video of the Temple of Ikov quest. Not knowing how the bridge worked, he made extensive use of that trapdoor!

There's actually an explanation as to why that door by the Dramen Tree to the Wildy exists! Lost City was a quest that was released in 2002, while the home teleport spell wasn't added into the game until 2006. So RSC and early RS2 players (back in 2004/05) had to use that door to get out to finish the quest. If they made it safely, Quest Complete. If they didn't, then they'd have to get the branch again. I assume that's also why that quest is tied to the criteria for the Dragon Longsword and Dragon Dagger.
  • Love how you provide little history lessons about rs. Learning about the yanille agi dungeon was one of my favorite parts of the yanille chunk series. Love the vids man, keep up the good work.
  • @kalfy2491
Finally someone mentions that random man npc in the wilderness. As a kid, I would always wonder why he was there. I still do lol.
  • @Bo-kq8tn
The random trapdoor in hemenster was wild, it's just an extremely specific softlock preventer for an extremely obscure area, who knew! And the entrana to boneyard shortcut was REALLY cool! I can definitely see that being useful. Excellent video as always! <3
  • Because of this video, there will now be a hoard of "digsite locked" accounts. May god have mercy on our souls.
  • Movario is part of While Guthix Sleeps. This was the best quest in RS2, and will eventually be added to OSRS much like Path of Glouphrie was. Anyone who played WGS as a kid was amazed by the scope and the sense of adventure. Movario was added in 2007 in preparation of the quest's release in 2008.
  • @Bo-kq8tn
forgot to say, the goldpanning in the dig site was one of my FAVORITE things to do as a kid. It was loot boxes but for small beginner items lmao. They were actually a really handy source of gems for crafting exp I remember
  • @kylbarry4466
Honestly a very interesting vjd would defo watch more of them. I found your inclusion of the weird workings of yannile to be a quality edition that adds depth and flavor to your chunk series, keep it up josh.
  • @PrestonGraff
12:50 these blood rune chests were actually how I got my first full set of rune and dragon longsword back in the day in runescape classic. Runecrafting wasn't out yet and blood runes were popular because of the god spells, so it was great money at the time. There's also nature rune chests in ardy which was fairly popular before rc.
  • @UnknownVir
It feels like Scurrius would be a better NPC for the Ardy tunnels and sewers vs another boss under Varrock (especially since it's not ftp)
  • @Tellacon
Man the runescape classic gameplay hit me
