  • 8 months clean. Had to abandon all my old friends, had to leave my long term girlfriend, had to move far away, but I've never been happier or more grateful to be alive. Sobriety works wonders man.

    Anyone here in 2024?

This tune saved my life. The entire album is wonderful. (Recovering addict.) Edit: Haven't touched a fuckin' opiate, since September 5th, 2019. It's been hard, folks.. one day at a time. 🙏👍👊✌️
  • A song about someone who hurt a lot of people that tried to turn over a new leaf and make themselves 'clean' again, even though everyone is still dealing with the devastation that person's previous actions left in their wake. They might have come to terms with their past, but everyone else is still hurting.

Best song on this album to me. Very haunting and kind of a smack in the face of thinking you can sweep your past under the rug with a bit of therapy. Very Maynard.

You can't run from your past, it will always chase you down. You have to face it.

My parents both OD’d. Something like 4-5 months apart. Dad said when mom died he was going to rehab and was really going to get clean. The next time a saw him I knew was gonna be the last. Don’t know if he tried but I know rehab costs money, and we damn sure didn’t have that. Don’t know if it would’ve helped, but I wish I could’ve showed them APC. And this album in particular. Don’t hesitate, do the things you need to do. Say the things you need to say. Time is running out.

We all have a past. Not a single one of us is a saint. I love this song because it's a reminder that all of us have done bad things in some way or another andthough we learn and we improve, we are still responsible for the damage we do. It's a very humbling but necessary message to remember while trying to grow as a person.

I listened to this song when I was 10, before I did drugs, in my 20's when I was on drugs and now in my 30's off of drugs. This song hit me hard no matter watch stage of life I've ever been in. Child or adult.
  • "The Noose" So glad to see you well Overcome and completely silent now With heaven's help You cast your demons out And not to pull your halo down Around your neck and tug you off your cloud But I'm more than just a little curious How you're planning to go about Making your amends to the dead To the dead Recall the deeds as if They're all someone else's Atrocious stories Now you stand reborn before us all So glad to see you well And not to pull your halo down Around your neck and tug you to the ground But I'm more than just a little curious How you're planning to go about Making your amends to the dead To the dead With your halo slipping down Your halo slipping Your halo slipping down Your halo slipping down Your halo slipping down [repeated] Your halo slipping down to choke you now

To anyone asking if we are 'still listening in a year', we have never stopped listening! Enjoy the music.

I wore this album out when I was getting sober. I love the entire thing. It’s truly a masterpiece.
  • This song will never get old. It is absolutely beautiful. It’s haunting and hypnotic. He is such an amazing artist. I just don’t know how anyone can be this amazing.
  • The best thing about Maynard's work is everyone can relate regardless of your position in his grand opera. All of us can learn from this message.
  • As a recovering heroin addict, I've identified with this song since it came out. Prior to becoming a heroin addict, I was involved in a car accident that resulted in a fatality. The one way I can make amends to the 'dead' is by staying clean one day at a time. Maynard will never know how much this song resonates in my soul. I agree with the previous whole heartedly. I was a tornado 🌪 roaring through the lives of others and I know people will probably hurt forever due to some of my actions. Thus, staying clean and trying to carry the message of recovery to others is the ONLY I can make living amends. Thank you MJK for this piece of timeless art

I'll never get sick of the unique rhythm of that drum beat.

Such a beautiful hidden gem I’ve never heard this song before and it’s so lovely
