Overlanding Eastern Oregon with NWOL

Published 2023-01-23
We explore eastern Oregon's backcountry with NWOL. The Alvord Desert, Willow Creek Hotsprings, Threeforks Hotsprings and the Owyhee River and Canyonlands. There were a few large fires in Oregon and Idaho that made for a few hazy days and definitely no campfires on this trip.

Fun trip. I did almost exactly the same trip in Sept, but starting in Bend. I decided the Western approach to Three Forks hotsprings wasn't a good idea solo with no spotter, skid plates, or sliders though and turned around before I got into trouble.

Great video, love the wild horses and water crossing. I've been meaning to get out that direction, but am focusing on the Brothers area this season. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us! 😀

Succor, Sands Basin. Always reminds me of an old western movie.

How far up the east side of the river was the tree blocking the road? I'm currently planning a trip to the Owyhee River/Canyon area.

    The gentrification of camping
  • Worked a summer in Eastern Or. This itinerary really makes no sense, unless you simply intend to disrespect a vehicle. That desert can be very deadly. You don't seem to be "a poor blind innocent." Why take on a project in complete ignorance?
