He-Man Intro in different Languages and Versions

Personally, I rate them in relation to He-Man's character as it's portrayed throughout the series. Secondly there is a certain voice that fits this character. Thirdly, there is the dramatic inflection, accentuation and delivery of the lines. I grew up with the Mexican version where the song has lyrics/singing on the background. I speak English and German proficiently so I am attuned to nuances in tone for those versions as well. With my background I also understand Portuguese and Italian fairly well, and French, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish to a lesser degree. The original version in American English is solid but does not convey the bravado that other versions do, which is essential to the character. Plus the slight southern drawl takes away from the authority of the monologue as delivered in other versions. Also, you can tell it's an older man who does the dubbing, which is an odd contrast to the character's "powerful man in his prime" foundation. The first Mexican version does an incredible job at nailing all these criteria. The baritone voice quality is there, the authority, the dramatic delivery is there, and in full effect. It's a rather extraordinary offering in its power and sets the bar quite high for all other versions to measure up against. Next is the first German version. The voice is right. It begins with a cool tone to it and is authority reaches peak when he yells "Bei der Macht von Greyskull! Ich habe die Zauberkraft!" It's just great. My next favorite is the Russian version. Although I only know a few basic words which I was able to pick up, the voice is perfect and the dramatic inflection is also on point where it's expected. The authority is palpable. Remarkably strong version. Next is the Brazilian version. Solid on all fronts. Especially on "Eu tenho a Força!" Then it's the Slovenian version. Solid as well. Perhaps it's a tie with the Brazilian as Slovenian has a more serious, steady cadence, where Brazilian Portuguese has a bouncy fluctuation of tone that is hard to regulate. They did have a rather silly slip when they left the moment where his voice cracks (Princ iz Eternia) as they could have easily just redone that line. After that there's the Scandinavians. Swedish is the best in my opinion. There's a loss of emotion in comparison to the ones I've mentioned so far but it is still good enough. The Norwegian version is a bit spooky in its spectral quality and dramatic delivery, but I'll take overly dramatic as opposed to emotionless. The Danish version is good but lacks emotion in some crucial places. That's as far as I go with acceptable versions. If your native language is Spanish (and you're not a Spaniard) then Spanish from Spain will always sound a bit pompous to you, thus rendering it comical to a certain degree. This version does not attempt to rid itself from this quality nor to ameliorate it, which I feel it could have been done by getting someone with a deeper voice for example. Then we have the Italian version: it's a bit over the top to begin with, and when he says "Per la Forza di Greyskull - la grande Forza è con me" the whole thing just turns comical. The French version also lacks in authority and seriousness, but I'd wager anyone who isn't French just perceives its essential attributes as pompous so, nothing that can be done about that. Now we are left with the plain bad ones, or just sad ones. The Polish version is by far the worst. First they (and it's fairly common as I learned while in Poland) overdub with the original audio track in the background. That's just a nightmare. Then he just reads off the lines with zero emotion. The Greek and Finnish versions are just wrong. Wrong voice, wrong everything. It's been cool seeing that this compilation has been widely enjoyed and I in turn have really enjoyed all your comments. I'm really interested in enhancing it so if anyone has further versions please send me a message so I can add them. I would love to make an ultimate compilation with all existing versions.

Here in Brazil, He-Man's voice actor is Garcia Júnior, he's also the classic voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Jelushi, John Malkovich, Willem Dafoe and many others... Hearing He-Man's voice in different languages sounds strange now!!

The funniest part about the comment section is all the latin americans showing their nostalgic bias to the latin spanish version while writing their opinions in english, as if perhaps trying to convince the english speakers that they're correct. Frankly I think all versions have their merits, but the ORIGINAL should be the one that is respected the most, because from that one all the others were concieved. Regardless, all praise He-Man, one of 80s' best animated series.

The Brazilian version is second to none(despite the poor quality posted) One of the main contributions to the He-man phenomenon in Brazil . Garcia Jr, the voice actor, put so much emotion and passion on his acting. The Italian one is hilarious. You cannot take that seriously.

The polish translator did not do this by free will.

Mexican version is the best version ever, it's the only one who has beautiful lyrics in the opening theme and the voice of Adam fits perfectly for the character.

En español latino alternativo es fiel a la traducción otra cosa que me gustaba de los doblajes de antes es que era un español perfecto "neutro" eso sí era muy profesional gracias por esos tiempos

with all respect to the great original version and the other ones too. The original voice is adam but the mexican version is HEMAN!! thats the voice of the most powerful MAWN in the universe.
