GBO2 Gundam GP03 Stamen: It has long range downswings?!

Published 2023-08-14
This video contains two matches I had with the LV2 and LV3 Gundam GP03 Stamen. It is a 550-700 cost general with a long range sweeping downswing, good MA breaks, high mobility, decent mid-range damage and two dodge rolls. Its weaknesses would be low HP, mediocre melee damage and lack of Flight Control. This suit was the second 550 cost general to ever be released all the way back during the games first anniversary, since then it has enjoyed times where it ruled the cost as a must pick choice to times where it has been sidelined with the arrival of better options. It is a pretty basic suit with only three weapons and a simple stun into downswing playstyle. I am not playing the suit at its native cost in these matches but it should still be a pretty good demonstration of the suit's capabilities. I hope that you enjoy watching!

Its primary weapon at LV2 is a folding bazooka with 2000 power, 10 ammo, 6 seconds cooldown, 12 seconds reload, 1.77 seconds swap time, 380m range and 70% stagger value. This has above average stats in basically every category for a bazooka along with having large ammo reserves, making it very reliable. This will be your main combo starter since it can confirm a melee downswing or shots from your beam rifle.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2310 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and 140% downswing modifier. This has mediocre base strength for a suit with no extra melee weapons, but the downswing modifier makes it a little bit better. The real strength of this weapon is the long range sweeping downswing motion. The animation may remind you of suits like Jeda or EWAC Jegan, but it is both faster and longer ranged than the downswing on those two MS.
Its first sub weapon is a beam rifle with 1600 power, 5 ammo, 1 second cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 400m range and 35% stagger value. This weapon has pretty good damage output and decent stagger accumulation, though it takes a little long to stun on its own. It is ideal to follow up shots from the bazooka with this beam rifle.
It also has a large shield with 5000 HP, meaning you get a +15% bonus to walking/turning speed once it breaks. This boosts a default walking speed GP03 to 149 walking speed, which can be very useful if you playing around cover while shooting.

The LV2 GP03 has 17500 HP, 20 ballistic/beam resist and 26 melee resist. This level of HP places you as one of the squishiest suits at cost, so you aren't really gonna be good at frontlining. This necessitates you to play more as a high mobility disruptor or shooter rather than a durable tank. It has LV2 Emergency Evasion which can help with this.
It also has 130 walk speed, 220 boost speed, 70 thrust and 66 thrust. This level of mobility makes you one of the more nimble suits at 550-600 cost, especially considering that you have LV2 Forced Injectors. Though despite the suits small size, it lacks any sort of Flight Control skill. Meaning that you cannot start boosting while mid-air.

Overall I feel like the GP03 Stamen is just ok. It isn't bad enough to be called weak but isn't good enough to consider taking. It has an easy to understand loadout with a straight forward gameplan, but lacks the power that the better 550-600 costers have. It is a balanced suit that can play pretty decently either shooting from behind cover or disrupting with melee, but you aren't going to be doing that much damage. You also lack essential skills such as Flight Control and don't have much HP. I think it should get buffs to address these issues, such as +1500 HP, increased downswing modifier and the addition of LV2 Flight Control. Considering the powercreep that the rest of the cost has seen, it might not be a bad idea to look at buffing bazooka and beam rifle cooldown at the same time. I can't really recommend GP03 if you have acquired better suits through the gacha or have the DP store rank to buy stronger options, but it should be a good choice for newbies to learn the ropes with. Apart from that, it is best avoided if you want to win in rated matches. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!

This is a solid space suit at 550-600, and it's my go-to when I start getting a bit sloppy and want to reinforce the basics.

I feel like what it needs is maneuver armor and rifle buffs. This would make it different from the MP shiki, which is what it needs because right now it can't compete with two instant stuns.

It would be cool if it could use its folding arms as weapons

This is my favorite MS by far, simple and fun. Nice video.

How do you play with a full second of latency like that?

I wouldn't mind MAs being pilotable. GP03D though would be a complete monster though to balance. Manga version would more likely come since it's more of a back pack sets on it then proper MA.

the neat part is that it does alot better in space, so much more agility.

Big sad moment for the gpo 4 beam rifle usually hit for 1000-900 Great video:)

2nd game just refused to let you get any tackles. I was wondering why you weren't doing tackles when they were mid-animation and it'd be a free tackle but I see now. God that sucks, by the way I love reading the descriptions you put for the videos. I'm not playing GBo2 for a while just to filter out snobs who got free-ranked and carried to A rank who couldn't stick together if their mothers life counted on it and it's always nice to know your thoughts on suits and get a good understanding about what makes a suit powerful and what causes a weakness in a suit.
