Excellent ideas. I’m starting to think about how to best manage break and learning for the summer as well.

Yes, I feel like I'm just getting momentum with my 8 year old in his reading. So we are definitely going to keep that up, along with some math. But we are also going to go swimming, and to the amusement park, and do summer stuff. With my six year old, I took a few weeks off from going over letters with her, then we came back, and it seemed she had forgotten some of the letters she knew. So, I do think it's important to at least give them a little something throughout those typically designated "time off!" It will be nice to have a little less pressure so I can enjoy my 2 and 4 year olds, this summer, too!! :D

I’m 3 weeks postpartum, so we wrapped up our “serious” school before the baby arrived. We’ve been reading aloud a little bit every day and doing a little bit of Language Arts. I am hoping to start Brighter Day Press’ A Simple Summer probably next week or the week after. It’ll be very low key though since we’re still in the thick of newborn life.
  • Hello! I also just finished filming my share on this same subject - Our Summer Homeschool Plans 😄 I guess us homeschooling moms are likeminded 😉

Love these tips! I'm curious: What math program are you using for your children? Do you do private piano lessons, or is there a piano curriculum you'd recommend? The idea to work on habits while the load is a bit lesser makes so much sense!
