To be fair, if a security system not only shot at your face, but also shot at your knees (preventing you from escaping) and your genitals (just generally inflicting maximum suffering), I'd absolutely be too terrified to even approach a house with it installed, let alone burn it to the ground.

If you're making a homemade sentry turret, you might as well just go all the way and buy the materials to make it near instant tracking and firing. Might I suggest coding a thermal signature detection as well... pricy but will add a HUGE advantage towards tracking potential threats.
